The course was awesome! I had a great time playing it. Well taken care of and plenty of views. A great display of how great golf is in northern Michigan.

I thought it was a beautiful and scenic course especially in the fall. There is never a flat area which made it challenging. I enjoyed playing this course.

Pros:
Nice play and stay package for the money, clean semi updated room and bath.

Resort has a decent restaurant for both a burger type meal, or chain type steak dinner. Try the bbq pulled pork sandwich.

Located in a good area to play many courses in that part of the state.

Large Greens and larger fairways cut through the thick forest.

You are isolated from other groups and holes for almost the entire round.

Cons:
Don't think it earned the #8 public course in MI ranking that MI Golf Mag gave it. I would compare it to other courses I played that are ranked #25-#30

Very hilly uneven lies both in rough and fairways.

To many Greens played above you, creating blind approach shots, you see part of the flag just not the green. You feel like you are playing uphill (entire back 9)

Too many fairway bunkers and green side bunkers.

They have gas carts, but maybe electric couldn't handle the hills.

Never get a good view of the course, or other holes from a high point. Maybe to isolated.

Would not play it twice in one trip/ will maybe go back if in the area to play other courses I have not played.

Curb service is not that of a private country club or nicer courses, but I sometimes find that to be to in your face. They have cart staff to help you, you may need to ask them if you want help.

I dont know what this guy before me was talking about. I have played golf at some of the finest golf courses in the Northern Michigan area as well as around the country and very few compare to the natural beauty of the Tribute. This course is carved straight out of the heavens. It is a very difficult course for the average golfer. As far as playing a wonderful golf course at a rate that most courses in the area charge this is a great trak. I cannot beleive that anyone could walk away from this course and never come back. Take my word for it this is a course that begs to be played again and again!!!

Save your money!

Let me just begin by saying that I play quite a bit of golf, in Michigan, Texas, Arizona to name a few.

This course, The Tribute, was by far the most disappointing and frustrating golf experience I have had in the last five years.

First off, this course is way overpriced for what you get...

The course is not well marked for those that have never played here before. There is no starter... It was quite the hike to get to the first teebox and we questioned whether or not we were on the right path.

The service is poor. For example, no one told us that the beverage/sandwich carts are stationed at certain places and the last station was on the 10th tee. Be prepared to get what you want in terms of food/drinks on 10 to get you all the way through 18.

Also, we did not see a marshall the entire time we were there.

On one hole, there was course construction, which appeared to be a
large bunker from far off. Upon arriving to retrive my ball, it was a large ditch with a large black drainage pipe still exposed and there was not any indication, i.e. ropes, signs or other, to indicate this look alike bunker was actually ground under repair.

In terms of scenery, it was nice, but absolutely far short of spectacular.... all they have done is carved out a cart path in the woods!

Once you finish your round (which we could not wait to do) you cannot take carts to the parking lot, which is quite a ways away from the bag drop. In fact, we pulled up, we unloaded our own bags, had to go and get the car and then we loaded all three bags ourselves while the bag boy just sat there and looked out into space... He never offered to help, never spoke up, not anything.... I can get better service from a municipal course at a lot less cost. At $75.00 per person, this price offers an excursion through the northern woods by way of an out of season ski resort.

Needless to say, I will not be returning to this course!

This course is nothing spectacular by any means and I will never recommend this course, nor will I ever be back. There are numerous upon numerous courses available for far less that offer so much more!
