Course Reviews

KMB08, probably works there. Ive had my son out there three times and the only thing the staff has handled with priority is getting the payment. Take the kids to any range around town and let em hit, its about the same thing. For myself I do play the course a couple times a month, its close to the house and an average course. Greens fees could be $5 to $10 cheaper with what some of the other courses are charging now adays. I played The Fortress all last summer for $5 more than Brookwood.

I had my two children in the junior golf program (5 to 8 year old division), the program was AWESOME!! There were 4 staff members to teach during their division, which is more than the other courses we have been to. They taught every aspect of the game to the children in a FUN learning environment. They worked on irons, chipping, putting, drivers, and etiquite. The program also had a banquet at the end which each child either received a medal or a trophy based on their last days tournament score. My children had a great time in the program and looked forward to coming every Wednesday morning. I would definately recommend this program to anyone looking to teach their child the game of golf.

My two children are enrolled in Brookwood's junior golf program. Let me just say I feel it is poorly run and managed.
Very poorly organized. Staff seems untrained and unambious. My main complaint is with the general manager. I had called to voice my opinion regarding my concerns over the incompetence of the staff while he was away on vacation. They had 50 kids lined up for one putting hole. No instruction was given to the kids putting. Staff just stood by and watched. It was just ridiculous. I called and spoke to the manager and felt he was very defensive and confrontational with me. He was more interested in defending himself and his staff than assuring me that he would correct the problem and make sure these things did not happen in the future. He did not seem like he really cared how I felt. I did not appreciate his attitute at all. I would not recommend this program to ANY parents for their kids. I am sure their are more professional golf courses and program managers in the area.

I had arranged a 9 hole scramble for 12 players at Brookwood and it had been set up for approximately 2 weeks. The day of the scramble, June 7th, 2008, I got a call from a Brookwood employee just 3 1/2 hours before our tee times telling me that they had a shotgun start outing that day and our tee times needed to be pushed back at least 2 hours. This scramble was the beginning of a bachelor party and the entire day had already been planned and schedule, therefore, it was not possible for us to just have our tee times pushed back 2 hours. Also, a number of the golfers were already on their way since they were coming from other parts of the state. This was a huge inconvenience to me and the only thing I got from Brookwood was "sorry". I understand that mistakes can happen, but how in the world do you schedule tee times for a large group of golfers on the same day as a shotgun start outing and realize the mistake just 3 1/2 hours before the tee times? I would have understood if I received the call a week before or even 1 or 2 days before, but not 3 1/2 hours. Fortunately, Genesee Valley Golf Course in Swartz Creek was willing to do some re-scheduling to assist our request.
Brookwood employees showed nothing but incompetence and an unwillingness to make things right. In my opinion, I think Brookwood is poorly managed and is definitely a course that I will never return to, or refer people to, because of this incident.
