Bare spots where there should not be this time of year. More yardage markers are needed. The greens had been aerated recently but not noted on their Web site.

While I do like this course and recommend it often, I don't see how anyone could think this is a 4 or 5 star course. Positives: There are a few great holes that are very well designed, the place has good amenities, usually in decent shape, and the practice facilities are pretty good. Negatives: The course is pinched between many houses (which makes OB sneak into play where it really shouldn't), it's sometimes overpriced, and i've noticed its usually more crowded than nearby courses which can make for a slow round.

When all is said and done, Challedon is definitely a place you want to play in the area, but there's really no hurry. I'm met with a challenge here playing to a 6 handicap, and friends who are around 20 hdcps said they liked the place. They did complain about the egregious amount of Out of Bounds on seemingly every hole, but at least you can find your ball because it's usually in someone's yard.

I'm only left with one question: why did they called it the "Links" at Challedon? Ok, so, Challedon was a racing horse that trained on the property way back when, then the land was sold for this golf course. The property is this pasture/woodland/parkland type setting, and the course design doesn't even come close to hinting at Links golf. Just sayin'...

Played this course on October 12th. Really nice course with a fun layout. A lot of elevated tee shots and hills throughout. Quite a few houses on the perimeter, but far enough back to not be in the way. The greens were a little bumpy with rough patches here and there, so putting wasn't easy. Greens could've been a little nicer, but that may have been due to late season play. Fairways were in great shape. We paid $49 to play mid-week and felt that was a really good deal. Coming from Northern VA. where average courses are $80+, this was a steal. I would highly recommend this course to anyone. Looking forward to playing again some day.

In the course of two weeks, I've had the opportunity to play 8 courses. My favorite after that time is Challedon. The layout is wonderful. Though the course does run through a are kept (or maybe it's the course) far away. There's even some natural areas including woods in a number of holes. Absolutely a delightful setting! Would definitely be a walkers nightmare...especially the menacing walk from the 14th green to the 15th tee...must be at least 1/4 mile (though someone had made an illegal shortcut). Five sets of tees allow you to chose the game you wish to play. What I really loved about the course was all the white fencing that surrounds the courses boundry...added a classic touch! I can't see how you could not like this one!

i've played this course a couple of times, and it's a fun, slightly challenging course. my favorite holes would be the 5th (short, downhill par 3), the 8th (par 4 version of torrey pines south 18th), and the 17th (long par 5 with water on right of the green). this course is in great shape all year and is my favorite course to play

Challedon has come a long way in the last two years, and is now in my top tier of local courses, thanks to a real commitment on the part of the new management team to get things right. The layout hasn't changed: the course is generally straighforward, with only a couple of questionable holes (like #6, a goofy, uphill dogleg left with OB on the right), and of reasonable length. A little tough for the walkers, as it is hilly, and there are some serious distances between greens and the next tee. Conditions are much improved over prior years everywhere: tee boxes are well-maintained, with markers moved regularly so there's no "plowed up" ground; fairways are now well grown-in, with minimal patchiness; greens are uniformly green again; bukers have sand, and are maintained. Simply put, it now looks and plays like a decent golf course. Pricing is reasonable: $35 for seniors on weekdays, which is competitive for this area. Staff is excellent, pro shop is well-stocked, and the dining area is a cut above being a snack bar, and a small notch below being a real restaurant. A recommended stop.

Very playable course, well maintained, and a good value for the price.

Customer Service

Customer Service was great. The course is really coming along with the upgrades and I am excited to play Challedon come spring time. They painted the clubhouse and redid the bathroom's. I think they have a great staff there as apossed to previous years of poor customer service.
