Played here on 11/23/12. We started out an hour and 10 minutes late b/c of frost conditions. They scattered groups all over, which created problems later in the round. Staff catered to "members" by having the course marshal hound non-members about pace even though we finished the front 9 in 2 hours (course in 4hrs 5mins). Guy was on some sort of power trip and was bored. The members here are pretentious as hell and look down upon you like you're intruding on there "property." One foursome behind us started teeing off with us maybe 200 yds. in front of them and missed my friend by about 10 yds. They did it again 2 holes later and we had to get medieval on them. Conditions were meek and comparable to Clustered Spires on a REALLY bad day. Staff really needs to overhaul this course and "country club" or it will go to the way-side like some other area courses. Paid $40 for 18. I maybe would've paid $20 and felt like I got fair value. Pretty views of the mountain. Glade Valley is better than this place and a lot more friendly. Decent pro-shop and nice kitchen w/ full bar. Greens very fast and sloped. Bottom-line - Beware of this place! Take your money and go to Black Rock down the road or Hollow Creek. Or if you have the money, Musket Ridge.

Recently played the course and had my revenge. Last year shot worst game in 30 years. 109. This time, 84. The course was beautiful. The greens, I was ready this time, were as expected, fast. Played with MISGA group and the assistance given by Larry was great. Told me where to aim, went there. They have a scorecard with pictures of the holes with yardages from different places. That helped too. Can't wait till the next time to play and definitely will return.

Great place to play... Some hard shots on back 9. Not happy about price... Blackrock cheaper and a little nicer course, Would not play again unless asked to by someone...

Our group of travelling seniors played here for the first time on 3-3-08, and we very much enjoyed the course, and the modest winter price ($30). Pretty good design, and some tester holes, notably #7, #11, and the closing three. Greens are on the small side, and some are quick and tricky (#11 got me), with very subtle slopes and breaks. Bunkers were not in good shape: very wet and had not been raked. Several tee boxes were temporary, but the fairways were quite good for this time of year. Staff was friendly, and the 19th hole roomy and attractive, with large windows facing the course. Compares well with Black Rock and Carooll Valley: not quite up to Clustered Spires for conditioning. Well worth a visit.

I was told of small greens and tight fairways, but found the course extremely fair. Lots of pines just off the fairway certainly would cause problems for the errant shot. The front nine goes back and forth a good bit with minor doglegs from 4-7. The two par 3s are somewhat scenic. I enjoyed the back nine more with a short but challenging uphill all the way Par 5 11th. The back nine is a little more scenic with some rolling hills. Hole 16 is a 219 Par 3 and Hole 17 offers a narrow fairway...both challenging holes. Hole 18 offers an extreme left-turning dogleg. I lost my coupon but staff honored it anyway. Not the most expensive course in relation to courses in Frederick, but still on the higher scale (IMHO). I played in a slight drizzle for most of the round...this after an extensive drought in the area. They've kept the course in adequate shape for the weather conditions they've faced! Nice course!
