whenever i play worthington manor ( 2 or 3 times a year) there is often a vibe in the pro shop--snooty and dismissive.( i've played at hundreds of courses both private and public all over this great country). working in a pro shop could be fun--welcome the golfers--take their money--tell them to have fun. remember--that golfer has not yet 3-putted--has not yet found the water--hasn't skulled a trap shot.on the first tee he's still happy.

Played Worthington Manor on 4/6/2012. Enjoyed the challenging layout of the course, however some of the pin locations were a bit irrational. The greens were aerated a week before I played, but didn't effect putting too much. Greens still rolled fast so be prepared. Hole #3 is one of the most challenging holes here and anywhere, for that fact. Long ball drivers/hitters will do well here. Extremely sloping topography. Hole #6 over the pond is amazing and my favorite on the course. I could tell the course was well taken care of by the conditions and attention to detail. Staff was friendly and they have a nice little clubhouse with typical golf course fare. WM has a very rural feel with only a few houses visible from the course. Overall, I really enjoyed playing here and for $39 on a friday afternoon, a great value for the caliber of course this is! Will be back.

Really enjoyed this course. Played it after 3PM so it was busy but we played fast. I love the layout with few homes intruding and constantly changing layouts. The first time you play it you will make lots of mistakes because even with GPS you tend to "over read" the difficulty. Course is challenging and tee boxes amplify it. We played blues and it was a noticeable difference in terms of landing areas vs the whites.
Greens were is great shape and just as challenging as the course. The greens keeper sure had fun the day we played. Picked the absolute most difficult pin location on at least 1/3 of the holes.
I would go back in a heartbeat but watch for the gnats or whatever they are in June. They swarmed us and were immune to our bug spray. Spent half the time just waving a hand in front of the face.
Staff was terrific and can't beat twilight pricing.

This course is a "worthy" challenge to any level golfer. As a matter of fact...if you are a hacker, this is not your course to attempt. If you have difficulty getting around...this is also not your course. "Cart path only" means that you might as well walk it. Greens are either way up or way down from the cart path and of course, my shots tended to find the other side of the fairway. I wonder if elderly gentlemen frequent this place cause I was tired after riding the cart. The first four holes set up the challenge and certainly benefit the long ball hitter. I don't hack, but I lack distance and so was hitting low irons into many of the greens. Fairway traps are set up to allow risk/reward shots, but certainly aren't advantageous to the weaker hitter. Hole #3 (the #1 handicapped hole) just can't be reached in 2 shots for meager hitters like me. Bunkers and hills galore here! The par 3 sixth hole is the signature hole with the tee shot over a pond to a green protected everywhere with bunkers. The back nine is a let down after the front nine though 17 and 18 bring back some of the challenge (I mean many bunkers do you need on a finishing was like there was some kind of quota to reach!). I understand it's accolades, but being an accurate but short hitter, my rewards on this type of course are very limited. I plan to save a little money and play something a little more down to earth. Tried it moving on.

Great course

Definitely not easy but it is a beautiful course. Easily one of the best I've played.

If you play one course in the Frederick area this should be the first and last one. You must bring your "A" game here, or this course will eat your lunch. The first 4 holes alone are enough to suck the life out of you. Don't play from the tips unless your name is John Daly or Tiger Woods. You will need a 300 yard drive to make a decent attempt from the back tees here. They have a decent twilight rate, and the staff does make sure that there aren't any pace of play issues. I loved this place. Just wish I lived closer.
