Played on Sun, Oct 21, 2012. Course was in great shape, not much wind. Pace of play was an issue, with no rangers in sight. 5.5 hour round is terrible. Finally saw a ranger at the 13th hole who said that the slow group had just finished. By then we were waiting 5 minutes at each tee box, and it didnlt get any better.

Nice course. First course after picking up golf again. I enjoyed it although a bit on the pricey side but I have been out of the game for awhile so it may be normal for a "resort" course.

Played the course in April 2011 and conditions were fantastic. Greens rolled true, and everything was in great shape, particularly for this early in the year. Played here several times in years past and never had a big problem with slow play (our groups made it around in under 4 hours, though we were the first ones off). If the wind is blowing, this course can be brutal, but still a great place to play. It will be on our list again next year.

A great course, we got the afternoon rate and enjoyed every hole. The greens were quick and true to putt on. I can't wait to go back.

Hands down best public course in OC. Great all around

I've never played Lighthouse during the prime spring/fall seasons when the package golfers are down, but I have played there about four times, and I've never noticed it being particularly slow (especially not 3.5 hours for less than nine holes).
As most people said, the course is usually in impeccable shape, and the scenery is beautiful. The price is ridiculous! I'd never pay over $100 to play any course in OC!
I'm not sure why everybody's round was so slow. This course is long for the area, but it still shouldn't take more than 4.5 hours MAX to play. Sorry everybody couldn't enjoy themselves because of the waits. It's very understandable to be frustrated with 15 minute waits on the tee boxes.

Nice course. Would have been even nicer if we could have played the entire round. Instead, after a painfully slow 13 holes, we decided enough was enough. The forecaddies looked the part in their coordinated orange shirts – if only they had played the part to keep things moving along. As we followed the remaining 5 holes back to the clubhouse, we ran across a golfer talking on a cell phone with an open fairway and green ahead, plus numerous groups that were not keeping up with play ahead of them. On the par 5 18th, there was a foursome teeing off with no one in the fairway or on the green up ahead. The only forecaddie we had seen was parked along a fairway on 16. If you take your golf fairly seriously when playing a course like this, the pace of play, assortment of twilight hackers looking to play a nice course, and wait time between shots will certainly make it a frustrating experience that lacks any type of rhythm. The forecaddie at the end of round was indifferent when I mentioned the golfer on the cell phone and slow play – a fitting ending to the previous 3.5 hours (I'd have taken an I'm sorry). If you want a nice course but don't care about speed of play or price, this is the course for you. Otherwise, I'm sure Ocean City must have some more enjoyable alternatives that will challenge your golf skills instead of your patience.

I played 10/17/07 I agree with the wild. The course is beautiful but the lack of marshalls make this one of the longest and painful rounds ever. For the wait it is not worth the money

Excellent Adventure

I played this course in the early spring (during a monsoon) and it was amazing even then. The greens had excellent drainage because you would still get bounce and roll everywhere. The price is a little stiff during the prime months, but i guess someone has to pay the maintnance crew to keep it top notch. The back was a pleasant surprise weaving through the swamp/marsh. You never knew what type of hole you were playing next. Save your pennies, it is well worth playing.

bring a book

everyone who has told you how beautiful a course lighthouse is and how wonderful the layout and scenery and greens are, is absolutely right. man, what a nice course, right on the bay, kept in perfect condition. but like me, they probably gained this knowledge sitting through the longest round of their life! after paying about $300 for a round of golf, my golfing buddy and i proceeded to sit at every tee box for at least fifteen minutes before teeing off. after eight holes and three and a half hours, we decided to call it quits, especially since the tee box at nine had three foursomes in front of us waiting to tee off! thanks, but no thanks. for that kind of money, they need to have better spacing, and at least a marshall to keep the flow going. but nope, nothing. they were gracious enough to refund our second nine, and this certainly may have been a rare occurance, but my advice is play rum pointe. or bring a book.
