Great course for a great player.Beginners should play the par 3 until they learn those important iron shots plus learn how to putt for par, chip for birdie, all the important pressure shots.

This is place is tougher than people tell you. Everyone thinks that because it is straight it is easy, that is a lie. The par 4's are long and have small greens. Other than the 7th (the drainage problem, which I think they should just design a permanent pond into the hole) and the fact that it seems like nobody fixes their call marks on the green, the course is in good condition and a good play. Not sure I'd drive any distance to play it, but if you are in the area give it a shot!

Ah, Unicorn Golf Course. A quaint little 9-hole course right in Stoneham, MA. This place does not accept calling in for tee times. You just show up, sign in, and wait. When you first arrive, and sign up in the "pro shop", you will be greeted by 1 of 2 disgruntled employees who will coldly inform you that they accept cash only. After you've gone to the ATM at Stop & Shop down the street, they will gladly take your money and hook you up with a tee time. It's not that expensive. I'm a resident, so for me, 9 holes with a driving cart was $30 on a Friday. It's a few bucks more on the weekend. The course itself is rather pleasant, as there is little road-noise, and the like. The fairways are open and fairly well maintained. The tees could be in better shape. The greens aren't so lucky - one of them in particular looks like it's been forgotten (you'll know which one by the giant brown patches on it). Please be warned about the 7th hole, with it's atrocious drainage problem in the fairway. Think of it as "challenging"... For this course, the holes are pretty close to one another, and on almost every hole you will be waiting for someone from an adjoining hole to shoot towards you as you wait at the tee. Keep your eyes open, people! The course could be better, but I like it well enough. It is a good value for a public course. It's not that hilly, and it really is a "beginner's" course. Be warned about the bathrooms: I don't think they've been touched since they were built when this course was first created!

Nice public course. Cross over to other fairways a lot so watch out. Staff and players very friendly. Good relaxed atmosphere.

Great for a neighborhood 9-hole course, but not worth traveling to play....

I wish it was still 18 holes

I've played this course at least a hundred times and got very bored with all the straight away holes. The major problem I have with this course is the long wait at the par 3 holes. The grounds crew does a great jod keeping up this public course.

FIRST YEAR GOLFER

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT EVERYONE THERE WAS EXCELLENT. ME AND MY FRIEND WENT UP AND THEY PAIRED US UP WITH 2 OTHER GENTLEMAN SO I TOLD THAT THIS IS MY FIRST TIME PLAYING HERE. THEY PLAYED THERE BEFORE SO THEY HELPED ME ALOT WITH CLUB SELECTION. THE GREENS AND THE FAIRWAYS ARE WELL MAINTAINED.
