Scenery of course overlooks valley and water body to the NE, Trees and wildlife surround most holes, and wild turkeys roam the entire course during part of the season. Even fox has been spotted. The course is well mowed with CHIA PET type mounds strategically placed throughout the course. Bunkers are well kept and raked. Most of the holes provide forgiveness on your drives to one side or the other of the fairways. Many of the greens are either tiered or slopped, with a few flat ones to confuse you. The clubhouse provides a decent menu for after golf, with a full bar. Much of the eating area overlooks the first tee and the third and eighteenth greens. In good weather, there is a large outside area to dine as well. One of the amenities I have enjoyed is the August BBQ Wachusett CC throws for it league players - a ticket system handed out at time of registration. The BBQ is over three days so it hits all the leagues, and they don't skimp on the food. I also like the fact there are Bag people there for the members when they come off the 18th. The bags are removed from the carts, and the clubs cleaned and put away for the members.

Like this course, has both challenge, and open holes, although often windy due to high elevation which can really make a tough day of it. Greens are very fast, roll very true, currently very hard but thats due to the early season + dry conditions. However, playing there this past weekend, they seem obsessed with alcohol. They blocked carts from getting to cars when you come off 18, (but obviously not when you are going to/from the course since you have to cross through the parking lot a few times!), so when you are done, you can't drop your clubs off at your car. We did anyway though. My friend had a cooler, which he showed to the ranger when we started out and let them see that there was only water and fruit in it, but when we were unloading our clubs after the round, a different ranger came to us and flat out said "Are you drinking in the parking lot"? I was first a bit flabbergasted, since we didn't even have the cooler open, nor any drink of any kind in our hands, (it was a little blue soft cooler, holds a few waters). I said, "what kind of way is that to speak to anyone, let alone a patron of your golf course"? He didn't seem to get that point at all, was clearly not well trained to deal with the public. I told him that it was rude to approach ANYONE and challenge them as to whether they were drinking or not, and that since he couldn't possibly have seen us drinking since we weren't, he should have left us alone. I asked him if he saw us drinking anything, he admitted he didn't. He still didn't seem to get it. I "educated" him a little further. Our other foursome ran into a similar challenge trying to drop off their clubs. Wachusett country club take notice, I can spend my hard earned golf dollar at ANY number of excellent courses in the area, I plan on bringing my own water/drinks most of the time, even though I spent money on hot-dogs at your 10th hole, a drink in your pro shop, I don't believe I will spend any more money on your facility this year. I will reccomend to the league I am in that we do not consider your course for our outing. There are plenty of courses around BTW, you should be thinking of ways to enhance the customer experience, but clearly there was some perhaps not well thought out initiative going on. This was 4/30/12. No place for this, if you see people drinking deal with THEM, treat the rest of us as we deserve to be treated, as YOU would want to be treated.
