Big Spring Golf Course


The 18-hole "Big Spring" course at the Big Spring Country Club facility in Louisville, Kentucky features 6,736 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.9 and it has a slope rating of 128 on Zoysia grass. Designed by George Davies, the Big Spring golf course opened in 1923. Kelly Maxwell manages the course as the General Manager.

I played this course as a guest of an employee on a day when the course was closed. I would not pay what the members pay because I am not rich. That being said the course was in perfect shape. Its one of if not the best course I've played. Greens and fairways were perfect. Scenery was very nice. The holes are all diferent and unique. Its a tough layout and its pretty long to, but there is something to playing off perfect fairways and greens that makes it a little easier. It was nice not to have to hit off weeds or hardpan dirt like you'll find at most public courses. If you know an emplyee I would strongly recomend having them sneak you on.
