Timber Pointe is fantastic. We drove over an hour to play this and another local course, the Ledges, which is also worth a play!! Timber Pointe is on the upscale side of golf. It has manicured tee boxes and greens. Fairways were in great shape as well. Greens were a little torn up, but we played later in the day so I"m sure all the play had something to do with that. That being said, they still rolled really well. Bunkers we're great in size and shape, but due to the rain storm we had the night before, I can't tell you how they really are seeing there were puddles and no fluffiness at all. I"m sure they're great though. The layout is a great mix of long and short holes. Certainly some TOUGH par 3's. A few t-shots you have to hit out of chutes of trees which is fun, but one or two could be trimmed back a bit. Pace of play was slower but still done in about 4 hrs 40 mins on a weekend. We all really enjoyed the course and will certainly be back.....ESPECIALLY with the great deals they have been putting out. We paid $20 for cart and golf. There is also a practice range that looked great but we didn't get to try since we were coming from our other round. I say get out and play Timber Pointe if you get the chance!

Played TP for the first time yesterday. Bravo to those responsible for the best all-around golf experience I've come across in northern Illinois. The course is in great shape. The layout is superb. A couple of short par 5's will not allow access in two due to regiments of sandtraps protecting the last 40+ yards to the greens. A good mix of long holes, medium holes and short. Greens are on the easy side making leaving putts short inexcusable as there is little runout. It ranks with the best courses in the area.
What sets it apart is all they do to make your day a great one. They threw in a luncheon buffet and a bag of balls for mid-day teetimes included at a typical weekday greensfee that made the price of gas to get there (considerable) a non-issue.Enticements aside, the staff was very friendly and ever present. A beveredge cart with someone who stayed around long enough to visit us 2 or 3 times during the round. A pet peeve of mine is courses that have beveredge carts that sometimes run and sometimes don't and leave you to dehydrate on a hot day without cart help. I noticed 3 or 4 water coolers around the course, all filled. Also there is a "halfway house at the twelveth tee that the course takes you by twice.
This is a very thoughtfully conceived golf day with the interests of the golfers in the forefront, trusting, seemingly that the rest will take care of itself.

Packer Backer

Enjoyed the course, however, I was offended by the large amount of "jerk" Bear fans on the course.
Also found the texture of the toliet paper in the port-a-potties to be very abrasive!
