Over all I would never golf this course again. It was carts on path only due to some rain , let me also mention this course is built on a flood plain so beware. We were late to tee off as play was slow, once out on the course all the ranger did was yell at us to hurry up, speed up, catch up etc. He even went as far as to tell us we were 1.5 hrs behind, not a chance. When we asked him if he took into account that it was cart path only regarding slow play, he said yes but that only added 10 to 15 min, are you kidding me? if you add 3-4 min per hole for 4 players to walk to their ball thats 72 min right there for 18 holes. This is just a wanna be course that puts GPS units in their carts trying to be some fancy course. Its small, tucked in between houses and not as well maintained as most other courses in the area. If you are thinking of playing this course I recommend spending your money elsewhere or be prepaired to be chased by the forest preserve mentality like rangers.

Greens were slow and spongy - we didn't have any rain over the past 4 days - so that was odd. Tee boxes are rarely level - you have to step back and really hunt for a flat spot to hit from. Rough and under trees is very hard with little or no grass - very touch to pitch from. Traps and fairways were better than average compared to other same price municipal courses. Nice people work there - everybody was friendly. Course is narrow in spots and reachable par 4 greens are tempting.

Nice course overall. Many holes are very tight, especially on the back 9. Fairways could be cut a little shorter, but overall the course is well kept. Greens rolled true, and the tees, fairways, and greens were consistent between holes.

Try to go off-peak to avoid a 5+ hour round.

The Bad:
Played the course on a weekday while they were aerating the fairways (not mentioned when we made the tee time the day before)which ruined the play on 2 holes. We teed off at 8am, and the grass around the greens and tee boxes were still being cut at noon when we finished. Be prepared if you have a slow group to have the ranger shadow you a lot - our foursome was playing behind a twosome, and the ranger told us to catch up?? It hadn't rained in weeks in the area, but some of the fairways were very muddy with surface water, and i recall two bunkers that had pooled water.

The Good:
The greens were in excellent condition, played consistently, and the pins were in challenging locations. I think the 18th green is the only one that doesn't have a large elevation change top to bottom or left to right. Water is present on most of the holes, and it will kill you if you slice regularly - there are a number of holes with a creek running across that average hitters will not be able to carry off the tee (from the blue tees). As mentioned above, the ranger does patrol and will not hesitate to move you along - this course does have a reputation for being hard on slow play - just a warning - but i'd rather have him around than sit behind a group of people who took up golf that day...

Also:
- Didn't interact with the pro shop, so no comment there
- The clubhouse bar area was nice, good selection too
- The driving range doesn't open til 8am

I would play this course again in the future, but will not hurry back to it...

Nice Course

This is a fine course. Some wide open holes and some tight target type holes. Go online for tee times and save yourself some money.
