I am one of the few that actually think the back nine is the strength of this course. The front nine contains few memorable holes (a 390 yd par FIVE???) and is very plain. The back nine is unique. My advice would be to put your driver's head cover on after 14 and don't take it off. If you understand the concept of setting up an approach shot and strategizing a golf course, you'll probably love the back nine at Fairfield. It's the front that is boring.

Great Value

I have played Fairfield many times over the last few years. The front nine has been very enjoyable every time although I must agree with BBird. The back nine was a bit challenging the first few times I played it. Although, it is much easier once you get a good idea of the layout.

Great Course with Challenges

I've played this course twice so far and recommend it every chance I get. The front nine is a rather straight affair while the back nine offers a definite challenge. I've played course on both side of the Mississippi River and have found that this course offers a lot more bang for your buck.

Avoid Fairfield

This couse is really 2 different 9 hole courses. the front nine id not a bad layout. I enjoyed playing it. However the back nine is a mess. There are way too many twists and turns and the yardages are difficult to figure out. I am not a long hitter, but on the back nine I hit a 5 iron for my second shot on a dogleg par 5 and put it over the green. Something is wrong here.

I rarely lose more than 1 ball on a round but I lost 6 on the back nine alone. If you enjoy frustration than this is the course for you.

Great Value!

I am an intermediate golfer and felt like Fairfield was challenging and enjoyable course with a wide variety of hole styles. knowing that golf in Missouri is very expensive I took a trip across the river and discovered that I can play 18 holes with a cart for about as much as 9 holes in Missouri. After work I played 18 holes with a cart at Fairfield for only $28. Fairfield was very easy to find and offers one of the nicest public clubhouses in the area. The entire course is in excelent condition although my only complaint is that the rough on the back nine is a bit spotty in a few places. Although, the back nine looks very good considering only beening open for a year. I strongly recomend Fairfield Golf Club to anyone looking for a great course for a good value.
