Golfer 6/3 must work there. Palmer is a good course but would only rank about third or fourth in the area. He is right about 15, and it does flood from time to time.. However, this being said, it is an enjoyable round, well managed and maintained. Can be very crowded, and they often send groups off the back nine ahead of other golfers, which is a pain. Like the course and the clubhouse people, but don't play it much anymore as there are better courses closer to me.

What a cool place to play. You would think you are in Pennsylvania or Virginia with as much undulation as the entire course has. The entire course was in fantastic condition for a municipal course. The greens were reasonably fast, the fairways were full, and the rough was at a medium length.

While some of the holes are not the longest, Palmer Hills does have the biggest gimmick (BS) hole in the history of golf, the Par 5 15th. Though the score card says 538 from the back, it plays well over 600 yards. Your tee shot has to be the most accurate shot of the entire round. The tee shot needs to be no more than 170 yards or you are in a creek or in the rough with a nasty downhill lie. If you are right, you are in a lake, left in the creek as it twists its way through the course. Essentially, you have to keep the ball short of the ladies tees which are only about 150 yards away. From there it is up the hill and into the wind. It is quite odd to hit 7 iron, fairway wood, 7 iron into a Par 5. I played one ball from the Blues and one from the Reds and the hole is equally difficult as an uphill Par 4, which is what it NEEDS to be.

If you take #15 out of the mix, the rest of the course is consistent and stellar. For mid-April, the course was as green as anything I have seen. If you have not played the course, I would strongly recommend asking to join a group who has. There are plenty of places where a creek or a trap come into play without ever realizing it.

The driving range is all mats (yuck) but the clubhouse has some great gear and the restaurant is excellent, it was packed with a lunch crowd that wasn't even golfing. I walked the course, and though very undulating, wasn't too difficult.

Arguably the best public golf course in the Quad Cities area, if you take the TPC Deere Run out of the mix.
