I live on Molokai and play golf at Ironwood Hills about three times a week. Ironwood is a great little course, managed by Darrell Rego. The course has really improved in the last year. More carts, improved greens, etc. It is now Molokai's only golf course after Kaluakoi closed a year ago. There are many locals who love to play golf here. I think you will enjoy Ironwood as much as I do, however there are no golf stores on this island so bring balls and tees, you can rent clubs from Darrell. Aloha

I recently had the opportunity to play Ironwood Hills seven times in two weeks. The course itself reminds me of the general feeling of all of Molokai - slow, beautiful, and magically unrefined.

Molokai is not Maui. It does not have courses of the likes of those found in Kaanapali. Ironwood hills is found near the northern/central point of Molokai, somewhat near the Kalaupapa lookout. The course itself sits in the slopes of the mountains and provides some impressive views of the farmland and oceans that surround the island. You won't find a fancy club house with cafes and proshops. Just a trailer, some golf carts and a whole lot of aloha. The local pro Darrel is a wonderful guy who's always willing to help you out.

I found the course very challenging at times (albeit, I'm not the greatest golfer in the world). If you're new to the islands, be sure to get a cart. Trying to climb up and down the hills on holes 3, 6, and 8 can be daunting in the heat. Be sure to bring a lot of tees as the red ground in Molokai snaps just about any tee you use. I didn't ask, but I didn't see a place to buy balls or any golf supplies on the island...however I could be wrong about this.

All in all, it's a great course at a very very nice price. Several of the rounds I played I was one of few people on the course. Speed is not an issue here. Take your time and enjoy the what this gem has to offer.
