Beautiful views around the lakes. I don't think it is a difficult course.

Yes Stephan we were sanding the greens. When doing this you do not cut the greens; it takes a lot of time and effort to sharpen the blades on a greens mower. When you cut sand it does nothing but dulls them and removes quite a bit of metal (reducing the life of the blade). Also we had just dethatched the greens, we just put new blades on and it really did a number. The manager should have closed the course but they elected to tell people before they played the condition of the greens. Golf courses are not making money at this time so it is very hard to just close when there is a chance of any income. We (the mtc staff at the Pines) are working very hard with what budget we are given to make the course as playable and as enjoyable as possible. Out of the 4 who are on staff 3 of us play the course as much as we can so we are doubly rewarded when the course is in great shape. I may be a little bias but I feel our course is as good as most public courses, and better than most for being picturesque. You should always call ahead to see what improvements the course is making that will impact your day of golf.

Goodness Preacher, did you play the same course as us? We played today June 19th at about 1pm. My wife, daughter, her husband, and I (we're visiting from Florida) I paid $22.50 x 4, $91 including $2 key deposits, about the same as what we pay for sfter 1 summer rates in Florida.

My wife and I play 75 rounds a yr around Florida, Ga, N.C. and Pa.

The 1st hole was nicely bordered by Pines and a few oaks, a dog leg right. My tee shot faded well into the fairway and 2nd shot I hot thin and low, normal flight would have ran the green, it stopped 15' left of hole. Birdie put short 7', par put also short. This course's greens were by far the worse we have ever encountered. (no drought, record rains all this month) Never cut that morning maybe not cut the day before? 3/4" wiry length. Ever roll a putt over 15 ft of fringe? Of course not you would chip, but fringe is how the greens were. This was the way we played, as well as having to pass 2 of the greens because of the sprinklers on.

We could only handle 9 holes of 18. We loaded our clubs, we took carts back and I expressed my displeasure of the greens, as the only info I was given, they had been sanded. expressed, did not demand or expect a refund. His response as he sat and stared at me. "nothing he could do for me" Yeah he could give me my $2 deposit. A 'raincheck'? I'd have refused, or offer to play 9 at their sister course the Cedars, which last yr we played it is was boring but playable.

If you're looking in the area there are courses much better than this one. Then again from my experience on this course that is not saying much

Beautiful scenic course with the changing of the leaves. Everything was well taken care of, the greens were in great shape for this time of year. Friendly staff with wonderful information. Excellent value. I will be going back.
