Disappointing. Played it 4 years ago when it was semi-private members kept it in shape. Just played it in April 2018, it is a daily public now I think, the course and facilities look run down and the clientele look like public players.

I just played this course last week. What a gem! Great old style course with small greens. I really like the layout. The clubhouse is old and the pro shop is not much to write home about. The course is very good if you like to play old style courses that were built in 1927 by Donald Ross. Overall the course was in great condition.

Recently moved to Savannah and have played about a half dozen courses in Savannah/Hilton Head area, Most courses have fairway grass about 1/16 of an inch on top of sand, great if you need sand shot practice (all day long). Putting in my membership at Wilmington Golf Club next week. If you like playing on lush grass fairways, well manicured traps, and the beauty of huge old mossy oaks with a little bit of water to make it even more interesting, than you really owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Just played the Wilmington Island Club last week. The golf course was in great shape. The greens were the best!. The golf staff was friendly and our group enjoyed the grille room after the round. I cannot believe the comments about the staff from the earlier reviews . Every time my family makes a visit to the course everyone makes the effort to be friendly and helpful. Cheers to the Wilmington Island Club.

ok course, definitely not worth the money ($70 for $35 course when compared to similar courses in area). staff unfriendly. no marshalls to handle course.(took 5 hrs for 3some.

The course was in ok shape just played it for the first time yesterday. The greens looked as if they had been spiked a few weeks ago but were rolling pretty good. The fairways were ok could have been better, the rough was short so even missing the fairway was not that bad. The worst part was the golf course staff were not very friendly people.

this course was in horrible shape for being a private course, fairways were not cut out, greens were burning out, tee boxes had more divots than grass. they charged way too much money to play here and the staff in the clubhouse was not friendly at all, i would not recommend playing here.

The course was in great shape... Fairways were plush and the greens rolled and looked great...Had a large landing area for tee shots and could find the ball if you missed the faiway..It was a little $$$ for week play but it was still a pleasure and enjoyment to play... I will play again when I am back in town...

My friends and I arrived 15 minutes late for our tee time. The guy in the clubhouse was rude and lectured us on our tardiness when we checked in. The clubhouse is huge and looks very nice, but only a small portion of it is for golfers. The rest is for country club activities, receptions, etc. The course is in VERY poor shape. My friends and I were EXTREMELY disappointed. Tee boxes were not very well marked. Yardage markers were non-existent on most holes except on the cart paths. There were a couple of picturesque holes but overall the course is no better than your average municipal. It seems to me that this semi-private club has basically given up on their golf course. I would recommend almost any other course in the area above this one (Southbridge was very nice). Overall, simply a terrible value.

A big disappointment. Although the layout, scenery and greens were nice, it appears that they have given up on maintaining this course. Weeds were everywhere. Landscaping was sorely lacking. And the tee boxes for the most part were only definable by the markers in place. Definitely not worth a return trip.

Nice layout and very pretty setting. Greens were smooth and fast. Although I enjoyed the round, it could have been better. Weeds were everywhere except on the greens. Too many bare lies, and yardage markers were hard to find. Tee boxes were poorly defined and again yardages not easy to find. They were installing new irrigation, so hopefully it'll be better in the future.

savannah golf at its best

This course is one to play. Its fairways are lined with tall mature pines and huge old oaks with spanish moss hanging from them. The greens are lightning quick. The course has 80 bunkers on it. Another great feature is the yardage markers. They are granite stones set in the fairway that give you the yardage to the front middle and back. There is also a pro yardage book in the club house that is very usefull. The club house is absolutly beautiful. This course is one of the best in the area. A must play.
