Southern Oaks Golf Course, The Villages, FL

Non-Villagers not welcome. This place is ridiculous, no clubhouse, no bar, no restaurant, can’t find it on Google or Apple Maps. The pro shop is in a strip mall down the street from the golf course with no signs or golf carts out front. Made a tee time for the after 3 PM rate of $29.00 for golf and cart for non-Villagers. Finally find the place and they tried to upcharge me to $45.00. Guy behind the counter claimed you have to bring your own cart for that price. Said the tee sheets are full every day with Villagers with their own carts and we don’t need the public.
He had zero customer service skills and tried to start a fight with a person in my group. So, I went to the manager and asked for the quoted price, he said no because non-villagers can walk the course for that price. I asked him how many golfers are out there walking in the August 97-degree heat right now? I told him I want the price quoted over the phone. He said the GM does not allow discounts. I told him that is not a discount you need to train your staff on how to quote a price. Walked out the door and went home.
FYI: staff are not employees; they are volunteer Villagers that work for free golf. Pretty obvious they don’t like non-Villagers. Bottom line, don’t waste your time and money on this place if you don’t live in the Villages.
