Course closing May 1. Staff does not care about you as discounted fares. People hit into you, cut in front of you, are misdirected by staff to different tees. Greens are burnt out and fairways gone to weeds so they think they can treat patrons terribly. Stay away. They are changing the grass, hope they change the staff.

played this with a couple of members last week who told me that Jack Nicklaus redesigned this course about 5 years go, donating his typical $2 million fee because of his residency in the community. Wow, what a job he did in transforming one of those typically pancake flat boring, water everywhere courses comon in South Florida. Elevation changes, waste bunkers, generously wide fairways, and of course strategically placed ponds make this a really fun track. However, get ready to lose a lot of strokes on the greens. Not because of the many undulations, but simply because these greens were the absolute fastest that I have EVER been on. Insanely fast to the point of being ridiculous. I asked the members if there was a tournament coming up and they told me that the greens are always like this. They couldn't tell me why. If you can putt these things, then you're probably ready for Augusta! However, play this course, it's a blast, just don't expect to shoot a low number.

Well maintained golf course. Fees are very resonable. Wide fairways, but approach shot is a premium. tough greens.

Superb course difficult greens but fair, fairways in excellent condition with bunkers strategically placed. Clubhouse excellent and members very friendly.

Great course and in very good shape. Greens are fast and every single one of them has lots of undulation - staying below the hole is key. Greens don't have a collar so you have to really be careful. Play is a bit slow but not terrible. In windy conditions this course is quite challenging. at +$100 (with cart for general public) its a little bit on the steep side but not outrageous. Will definitely play here again.

I had a terrible time at this golf course. The North Palm Beach Country Club does not cater to the non-members at all.

The wait was terrible because of the group in front of us. I called the proshop to have a ranger come out to speak with us and the group in front of us. They did not send anyone out. I called the North Palm Beach Country Club proshop again after two more holes and still no response. Finally, with three holes left, I waived down a ranger and he came over. I explained the situation and he said there is nothing he can do because the people in front of us were members. He then proceeded to drive away, in the opposite direction of the group in front.

Very rude and I will never play the North Palm Beach Country Club again.

Most players would agree, Jack Nicklaus did a nice job of redesigning a course that needed it. Unlike other courses I've played that Mr. Nicklaus designed, this layout does not favor the right-handed fade player. This course has plenty of elevation change, not at all like most Florida courses.

There are a number of par 4 holes that, based on yardage alone, seem simple enough, but Mr. Nicklaus has used numerous well-placed sand and water hazards that require the player to think before teeing off; placement rather than distance is very important.

Teeing areas are well-spaced while fairways are in fair condition; “fair” due to being cut tight and hard soil conditions. Sand bunkers play consistent, while greens are medium sized with many undulations. One complaint is the lack of any collar around greens and some of them have so much down-slope and/or rounding that balls can roll off the green and find there way yards back down the fairways or into hazards; this adds to the length of time it takes to play a round.

One major complaint not about the course, but is with other players who fail to take care of the course; numerous bunkers show no sign of being raked over during play, ball marks on greens remain unrepaired, and people dragging their feet on the greens (thankfully, metal spikes are not allowed). Golf etiquette seems to have been forgotten by some players and that’s a shame because the people of North Palm Beach have a gem of a course and facility.

The golf carts include a good GPS system to assist with yardage to hazards and front/middle/back pin placements.

The driving range is adequate and lighted for night use; the practice putting green is medium-sized and in good condition; and the course has two chipping greens.

The clubhouse includes a bar with seating area, lanai with outdoor seating, and a large banquet area.

The facility also includes lighted aquatic center and tennis courts.

Many of us locals call it "nicklaus' folly". He took a fine old fashioned golf course that everyone loved to play and turned it into a track too difficult and too demanding for 80% of the players. The greens are more curvy than a Hollywood starlet, and the bunkers are not hard to play out of, but impossible for the older members to climb in and out of. The summer fees are within reason, but the "in season" winter rates are outrageous (over @100) for a muni. Better courses are all over Palm Beach County at lower prices with better service. Try Abacoa, Hammock Creek, Florida Club, Winston Trails, Madison Green.....

Just got back from North Palm Beach and played this course a couple of times. I have to say this is a very good muni course. Both nine's are fair and challening for all skill levels. Pace can be SLOW, so be prepared. I don't know if I would call the greens lightning fast, but that is comparing them to Abacoa Golf Course which are ridiculously fast. The course has lost alot of older members because this place could have doubled as a corn field (flat as can be) but has replaced them with some younger members. If you like a fair but challenging course give this one a try.

I have to disagree with GomesMatt, I think Nicklaus took what was a poorly designed back 9 and made it worse. With that said, the front 9 of this course (which is all that there was originally) is special and unique for south Florida. It can be very tough to get a tee time some days, lots of locals with tourneys. Quite disappointing to have so many cross around areas with a muni course. I wished I had a hard hat :(

Just played this course 27 July 2007. Jack Nicklaus did a great job with the design, but it may be a little much for a municipal course to maintain. Huge bunkers abound. Greens are lightning-fast even after rainstorms. Practice area is outstanding. Play is a little slow, but you don't notice it too bad. They recently re-routed the traffic pattern so they can improve speed of play but rounds still run over 4 hrs.
