I always have fun here. I have been playing late afternoons this summer, feels like I have this small course to myself. Very inexpensive, I always consider it a practice round. All you can play rate in the afternoon over the summer is a great, cheap way to get in some practice and have some fun. However, the greens are terrible. I'm almost scared to putt on these greens, in that it may affect my putting on a better course. I do at times get stuck behind some of the slowest players I have ever seen, some spend 20 minutes or more trying to get balls out of water hazards while there are other golfers behind them waiting to T off. And there are a good number of golfers here that just don't know the general 'good manners' of playing golf. This is the only course I have ever played where I regularly have a golf ball land right next to me, with the group behind not waiting until I clear the green. Its a tight course, I lose more balls here than anywhere, but its good practice. The folks running the course are great. So I guess I've got mixed feelings about Palm Gardens. If the greens were better, I'd be much more positive as the other things are more minor and somewhat expected on a public course.

A perfect starter course, lots of fun with a kick back atmosphere.

the P G

this was the first course I played here, the summer special was $18 w/cart and the hospitality cart will keep you well lubricated as it is always within shouting distance. A short 9 hole course, it was a good starter course for me, but one quickly grows weary of the terrible greens. The end came after one too many Sunday mornings, there is no starter, and some of the players show up unprepared , or unable to play at a reasonable pace. That being said, if you are looking for a cheap place to get in a quick 9 and there are not too many cars on the lot, than give it a try.

Not a snob course.

My Dad always said about golfers, “The dumb sons-of-bitches, hit the ball and chase it”. He never had much time for people who played golf. These people belonged to the country club, had money, and looked down their noses at everyone else. That wasn’t who our family was.

I held this notion until my mid 50’s when my son picked up some clubs from a garage sale, we played a round, and I’ve been hooked ever since. There are still some courses where I have experienced what my Dad was talking about, but not at Palm Gardens, just plain ordinary folks who have no need to put on airs. I always feel welcome. “Hit the ball and chase it”…it’s still dumb.

This place is a dump! No wonder they only charge 12 bucks for unlimited golf !!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you are trying to find a good hiding spot to drink beer, swat mosquitoes, and avoid the wife, go somewhere else. This place is a real dump!! The grounds are absolutely atrocious and the clubhouse/outhouse leaves a lot to be desired. What a disappointment!! I thought Jo Daddy's in Palm Bay was the worst until I stumbled on to this catastrophe!

9 Hole Value

I play this course every week, and for 12 dollars unlimited holes, I get my money's worth. This is a really short course, but I think that it is a lot of fun, and a great way to wind down my work-week. Crammed into a small section off Minton Road in the South of Melbourne, this shot-gun tee off, 9 hole course, though not spectacularly groomed, or exceptionally "club housed" creates a unique experience for the casual golfer. With a host of ponds, tall pines, and palms, this course makes for an interesting couple hours of golf. The ponds are inhabited by some of the largest fish I see inland, as well as turtles and a 5 foot gator who likes to sun itself on the edges of the fairway. The first hole is probably the most challenging, a dog-leg right with a large pond flanking the left side and deep unforgiving woods on the right. On turning the corner there is another small pond on the right in front of the woods as well as the continuing pond on the left. Bunkers protect the green front right and back left. A lot of frustration can be hidden in this nice little par 4. The rest of the course is more relaxed, with the occasional challenge hidden and waiting. It's a wonderful little 9 hole and I enjoy it every time I play it. The greens are terribly slow, and the grooming could be better, but overall I have a good time, and the value for my dollar goes a long way. Palm Garden is worth a look.
