I totally agree with paul2,very rude staff, rude rangers watching your every move. It is still as bad here in 2011 as it was back in 07. High priced for a poor course. We actually got relocated from course A to course C because they overbooked and they had lines of folks waiting to tee off. they gave us coupons for a free game but stated that there is a $15.00 charge for the cart when normally they charge $15.00 to play and $10.00 for the cart.Once relocated the ranger drives up to us very rude and said for us to hurry up because they overbooked and other folks had to tee off. We agreed and said yes sir we will. To our surprise he pulls up again around 5 minutes later and yells at us telling us to hurry while others ahead of us were still waiting for tee off. We went ahead and left this poor excuse of a golf course while only getting in 8 holes out of 18. I will never return to this course again.

I don't know what they're thinking!

Bramble Ridge has always been the staple "cheap" course in Lakeland. I don't know if they decided to get (perhaps rightfully so) away from that stigma, or if they're under new management, or what... but having not played there for years, i was surprised when i returned to play there just recently. The prices were higher, and to be honest, the value decreased.

This is a review of the "B" Bobcat course, not including "C" which is nicer.

If it were $10-15 for this course, i'd give it 5's all around. When you don't pay much, you don't expect much. But for $30/person, i'm going to judge it as a $30 course. I've played quite a few in this price range, and this is by far the worst. The tee boxes were mostly dirt and poorly maintained -- littered with tees and cigarette butts. Often i found myself having to literally search for a patch of grass to put my tee. And forget about doing a tee-less shot from the tee box most of the time... might as well pull out your sand wedge.

The fairways were decent but unremarkable. The middle of the fairways generally were okay, but near the edges were half sand, and I'm not talking bunkers, either. Again, very poorly maintained... I might as well be playing in my back yard.

The bunkers were a joke. While some of them had a nice set of steps to go down into them, and some were very well designed and deep, others you couldn't tell where it began and the fairway/rough ended. The sand was (yet again) poorly maintained, with weeds and bugs everywhere.

Now onto the greens... i think you're noticing a pattern here. Poorly maintained. Half sand, absolutely pathetic. And this is in late March when in Florida you should have no problem keeping up a decent green. Patches of grass missing, other patches of dead grass, and (due to it being half sand) slow as anything. Think putting on the beach.

I've played quite a few $30 courses with nice clubhouses. This is not one of them. No bar, no restaurant... just microwavable snacks, candy, and bottled drinks for sale. Limited selection of balls. However, they do have used balls for $0.50 that are in decent condition.

The driving range has no mats or anything, again is half dirt, so if you're into the more natural driving range feel, it isn't bad. They do have markers for the yardage, but they're HUGE and get in the way.

The newer "C" course (back 9) is marginally better... the greens (especially the last few holes) are maintained and most are in good health, the fairways are better, and the tee boxes are better. But for that price, i'm not going to be playing here ever again. Lower your prices and i'll consider it as a "cheap" place to play, like it should be, unless they start taking care of their course.
