Worse I have ever seen - looks like its been abandonded - check out some pictures on yelp http://www.yelp.com/biz/magnolia-plantation-golf-club-lake-mary
Makes it unplayable when there is 2+ feet of grass everywhere!

Booked Course because I saw a site where it said Magnolia Plantation was number 15 in the top Golf Courses in Florida. Tee Time 12.14pm however no golf carts had to wait 15 minutes for the first Carts to arrive. Still no 2nd Cart 25 minutes later had to go to the store and pick the 2nd cart up. Finally tee off at just after 1pm, Cart wears out of power by the 4th hole, after short delay a back up cart arrives. Greens very poor some slow some fast, fairways had hardly any grass. Great layout but poor condition. Went to Clubhouse for a drink at about 4.30 Barmaid having a tantrum about her new POS system. Said she was about to close so we had to be quick. About 10 more people came in where her opening words were we close at 6 so you need to order quickly. I had my worse score this year and worse Golf Course experience for a number of years.

We played this course on the afternoon of 01/31/10, as the first on our golf trip to the Orlando area. It was a cool day and the course was almost deserted. They have a decent pro-shop and bar/grille in the clubhouse. One of the first things we noticed was the score card. It was a VERY BASIC white card with no pictures of the course layout,..kind of like a mini-golf scorecard...(disappointing). A chat with the cart kid told us that the course was under new management and new score cards were on order. The course layout was competent, but the water hazards were poorly marked, and we found otherwise decent shots caroming into unseen trouble. The greens, fairways and bunkers were ok, and the carts were electric and in good repair. This was the most forgettable of the 5 courses we played on our trip, but a little t.l.c. could get it up to par in no time. Hopefully the new management sees this....

Very good value. I really like this golf course.

Not a bad price, decent practice area, horrific greens. Dead spots on all holes, bumpy or cut up fairways. Could be a decent lay out some what challenging with only a few wierd holes like 17.
For the area it's not worth it right now when the greens make a comeback try it

Played here this weekend. Greens are back in good shape. They overseeded them. Real Fast. Other than that, it all looked and played good.

I have played here with a friend several times. The course this past weekend was in the worse shape I have ever seen it. The greens on the back nine are in terrible shape. They are trying hard to get them back but it will probably be a while. That said, the greens on the front are in great shape, with nice speed to them. This course is difficult and requires good shots. Bad shots will not get rewarded as I have come to realize on the back nine. There are plenty of OB, water, bunkers, and woods that come into play every hole. The price is not too bad considering the area you're playing in, and the clubhouse has cold beer and decent food. I recommend it, but do bring balls if you're a 12 handicap or worse like me.

They have removed the GPS from the carts, and lost the greens on several holes. The course is beautiful and challenging, check on the condition of the greens when you make your reservations.

Good value for the dollar. Many homes are very close to play, closer then normal. Weekends (Parties) can be very loud and distracting. Course is in good shape, not great. GPS is nice, the water is challenging and everywhere. Course plays comfortably well, par 3's are almost too short however. Worth trying out atleast once.

I play this course very often and I can tell you that from the black tees is just as long and difficult as any TPC course. Must bring your A+ game every time or you will pay dearly. Very good value and service.

Played this course on June 2. It was about 100 degrees out and we only saw maybe 3 other groups out! That being said, we never saw a cartgirl. The course was beautifully maintained. The greens were hard and fast. The rough was very managable. I was intimidated by the amount of water from reading the reviews. Despite all but 3 or 4 holes hugging water, it really only came into play on a few holes. Aside from the fact that it was so hot and we barely saw anyone else the whole round, it was a good experience. The GPS system in the cart was wonderful; a huge help because some of the water hazards are hard to see from the tee. Would love to go back at a cooler time of year. From reading some of the older posts, if I had to guess, I would say the course has made many improvements. Great golf club!

This is a tough course but the weekday rate of $35 and GPS make it a great value. Water on 15 of 18, bring plenty of balls.

This is one tough course but a real gem. There is zero room for error. You have to know and have consistant distance on every club in your bag. You have to know your game and be ready for 18 holes of target golf. The staff is the most service oriented I have seen on any course of any price. I still can't believe this was a $40 round. This is a must play for any serious golfer coming to Orlando. Well worth the 40 minute drive from the convention center and resort hotels.

I must have come on a bad day it had rained two days earlier and the course had not drained the greens were average and the water is all over the place but very avoidable if you stay under control.. over all i was not impressed with this course its a high price and there were no rangers on course to keep the 50yd a stroke people moving.but the cart girl came by on every hole

Played on Jan. 15,08. Worst rental clubs in our trip--did not have any women's clubs for my wife and those sets we did have were mismatched. The fact they didn't charge us for the use didn't make up for it. Also course definately need some work.

A challenging course at a wonderful price for the area (35).

Landing areas for your drives are tight, you end up forcing yourself in to a fairway wood or an iron off the tee more than some big hitters will like. however the natural beauty of this course is spectacular

I Played this course on Sunday (6 aug 07) for the first time from the blues. I have not been hitting the ball very well lately but on this day this course made me hit the ball smartly because it's so norrow. Good layout of the course, no bell outs on your approach to the greens, water on every hole except three. I played 18 holes and did not loose a ball until the 18 hole (and i hit left and short to the first bunker) I thank i lost it in the ruff. Will play it again for sure.

Great course -- and the detailed yardage charts in every cart are way better than the GPS gizmos at many comparable courses (but see review below: looks like they went to GPS here, too). I'm not especially accurate but have scored better here (difficult as it is) than on easier courses by playing placement golf: aim for the 150 marker on almost every hole. Fairways are generous, as are the greens -- but don't miss 'em. On this course you either get smarter or poorer.
