Three nines and good variety

This course offers three distinctly different nines. The locals rate them in order of preference - Heron, Ibis, and then Igrit. I would agree. The designer has mixed up the shape and feel of the holes well. All the par threes offer real challenges from the back two sets of tees. The par fours are a good mix of short and long. All the fives invite the medium to long hitters to go for them in two shots. The fairways are wide and generous. The grees are fast, well maintained, contoured, hold shots well, and for the less skilled golfer mostly open for rolling the ball up.

Construction of homes/condos is progressing slowly around the course so right now the overall feel of the place is quite and isolated. A plus in my book.

I like a good challenge and PP lived up to it. My golf buddy is a 28 handicap and he too enjoyed the course - expecially the fact that here were no long carries off the tees.

The clubhouse is still under construction, so if you're looking for a place to hangout or eat after your round, this isn't yet the place. There is a dress code. It isn't spelled out, but I was asked not to play in jeans and I overheard someone else being asked not to play in cargo pants.

Three complaints - The staff had a little too much attitude (especially the starter, graceous to the members and a bit bossy and short with the "day" players). The course was only adequately marked for yardage (no GPS). And, the driving range is a lake into which you hit floating balls. It was nearly impossible to determine how far my practice shots were flying.

They take tee times 7 days in advance, give free range balls, a free sleve of titleist balls, and overally worth the $92 to play 18 holes.
