This course has gone through some tough times with grass and greens in the last 6 months and it is amazing how great the condition is now. Scott and his guys have done a great job at rebuilding. The greens were sodded a few months ago and are back to great condition with quick roll, the fairways have great grass and good roll. It's florida. All courses go through tough times here. This one is back in great shape and the overall experience is worth the trip. Food is excellent. Staff is friendly.

Read the review of BillAV8R1. Sad to say, he was overly generous.

First, let me say the lunch our foursome had was excellent. The best $25 lunch we've ever had. I will also say the cart girl that worked on 08/11/12 in the morning was funny, engaging and well liked. In addition, the starter that worked that morning was just a great guy. Keep those people!

That being said, the course was an absolute wreck. In my mind, this course WAS the Orlando area gem of "The Golf Group's" collection of courses. We used to play this course 2-4 times a month. Now, I doubt we'll be back. I called prior to our round to see what the condition of the greens were. I was told they were in pretty good condition. I feel we were totally misled. Most of the greens had some sort of odd patchwork of sod on them, none of them were rolled flat, which made putting impossible. But the fairways were what really upset us. We lost balls IN the fairway. It's as if they hadn't been mowed in weeks - IF they had grass on them. When played #5 and felt we were in a construction zone. Absolutely just unacceptable. Again, having suggested that the four of us play Deer Run, the abuse I'm STILL taking nearly a week later most likely insures we'll never return. Being told the course was in "pretty good shape" was just an untruth. Had we been told the course was undergoing some maintenance and was in rough shape, we'd definitely be back. Now, I doubt it. This place needs A LOT of work - and hopefully it will get the attention it needs to return it to its once beautiful condition.

The staff is very courteous, especially Anthony, a great guy who wants to make sure you have a good time. They have started taking care of the fairways and the greens which are looking great. Putting in a big effort to making DeerRun the best golf course in Casselberry.

Was very pleased with the over all experience at this course. Courtious staff and great course layout are good combinations. The Crabgrass from the winter is all gone and the prices are too low to pass up. I would recommend this course to other golfers

The only problem I have with this course are the greens. Most of them seemed to have a disease the they (Deer Run) cannot get a hold of. Other than that, the course seemed in great shape. Pace of play was great (under 4 hrs). Loved the layout of this course. The golf & lunch special is a great deal. Will play this course again if they get the greens healthy.

Not sure what courses the previous reviewers who called Deer Run well maintained are used to playing, but Deer Run needs some greenskeeper loving.

There is an insane amount of crabgrass on almost every green. They simply mow it down short so the stalks lie flat. Really really sad.

The layout of the course made for a fun time though. If the greens were in better shape, I'd return to play Deer Run on a regular basis.

I'd much rather eat lunch at Hooters and play Golden Tee. I played high school golf at Deer Run and we were literally the laughing stock of the district and opposing teams called it Dirt Run.

Whoever took over this course deserves a golf clap. Amazing course maintenance is taking part Deer Run! Lunch + Golf! Less expensive then to eat at Hooters and play Golden-Tee video game.

Fairly nice course. Im not sure it deserved to be rated a top 100 course in US (#78) but still good. Average difficulty, with a few challenging holes. Lunch special on weekends is very good deal. Course is usually well maintained. Definitely one of the better courses in Orlando that is affordable. Played course over 20 times and would recommend it.

Overall this was a very nice course with some of the best deals I've seen in town (Most notibly the golf and lunch special at a great price.) I thought the greens were in good condition and rolled at an average pace for Central Florida. This course presents some interesting tee shots that can give both skilled and beginner golfers some chioces off the tee. The course plays at a modest 6,600 yards from the tips which is great for me because I'm a shorter hitter by today's standards. The courtesy of both the outside service crew and the people in the clubhouse was second to none. I would recommend this course to every golfer out thier hands down.

if dave and brian played the course in the same time frame as their reviews, their reviews should have included the fact that the course was going thru tranistion from winter grasses to native grass. i play deer run whenever im in orlando visiting family. (several times a year) the course has always been in great shape, exception being maintence of the greens. id give it a 4 star rating. the golf lunch special is a terrific bargin

this course is in horrible shape. the greens are really bad. don't believe the top 100 rating cause it simply isn't true. deer run should have put money into their course rather than pay golflink to give em that rating. the clubhouse is nice and the food is good...that's about as positive as i get, its a dump, dont go there

I just read through your 2008 top 100 courses. I almost fell out of my chair at your rather odd and certainly underserving selection of The Country club at Deer Run in casselberry, FL( # 73). I am an avid golfer and I have been living in the Orlando area for 14 years. I have played almost every course in the area and I assure that Deer Run isn't the 73rd best course in Central Florida. I can't think of a worse course. It's always crowded, the fairways are hacked up, the greens are a disaster, the clubhouse is straight out of 1977 and it smells like sewage out there. I don't understand how this dogtrack could rank ahead of PEBBLE BEACH, TORREY PINES, SHINNECOCK ( that's 3 US open courses), and KIAWAH. Seriously were you guys drunk or is this some type of joke?
If anyone is looking for golf courses to play in Orlando, DO NOT even consider this course or you will be deeply sorry.

My father and I played the course on 10/20/08.The course was a nice course and the greens were nice, but there are certain things that I expect on a course that is rated in the top 100. We pulled in and there was no bag drop, no one to take our clubs, so we went inside and checked in and was told to grab a cart. The course is in Florida and there should be drinking water every few holes, but there was none to be found and with no waterwe expected a beverage cart selling bottle water or powerade but there was not one around. Last, there is only 1 yardage marker per hole and thats the 150' marker in the center of the fairways. They were mowing the fairways in the middle of our round and moved out of our way at when they felt like it.

Played course Sat. afternoon after 2 hr. downpour. Tremendous condition with very few soggy areas. Greens were fantastic. Nice scenery with combo of homes and water and a little bit of woods. Whole setup is classy. Every employee extremely friendly and helpful. Value with a coupon is unbelievable especially for a weekend. Will not hesitate playing here again. Top notch.
