River Hall Country Club, Alva, FL

River Hall is a beautiful, well maintained course and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Very fair but challenging. I always look forward to the 13th hole where they provide a Mango Scented Icy Towel to cool you down on those hot South Florida afternoons.

Riverhall would be rated as one of the top courses in the area except for its location. The scenery surrounding the course is rather stark. That's where the negatives end however. The course is immaculately maintained. It is a long tract that is designed to be fair to the average golfer and from the tips will provide challenges to the low handicaps. Lots of sand, pothole bunker styled and otherwise. Guarded greens. Just a few of the extras include a nice clubhouse and restaurant, small but well stocked pro shop, GPS on all golf carts, which will spoil you knowing the distances for every shot, the best practice facilities I know of in the area including an executive course, large driving range, chipping and putting area. Restrooms every six holes with water, and towels on number 12 which are very nice in the hot summer. The teaching Pro has earned the top instructor in SW Florida several times and has published a book for left handed golfers. As I said before, the only thing that would improve this course would be to move it beside an ocean.
