This is the best conditioned course in the area. Price is right and the staff is courteous. You will not be disappointed if you try it! They also have Oak Lane in Woodbridge!

I recently played a couple rounds at The Tradition and was really disappointed. I had played a few years back, and didn't remember anything sticking out in my mind besides a neat layout (island green and a par 5 i could actually reach), but the condition this time around was awful. They make it a point to grab your bags off the car, and treat you very well up front, but that attention to detail is lost on the course.

I realize that this summer has been tough on golf courses, so barren spots on fairway and greens are not really surprising. However, the majority of the tee boxes were completely chewed up and looked like tee stub burial grounds. I know that people leave their stubs, but it looked like the grounds crew hadn't been around to clean them up in two weeks. I haven't seen anything like it. Also, there were literally hundreds of ball marks on the par three 3rd and gouges like someone took full wedge shots off the back right side of the island green 12th. I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems like they've just given up a little bit in terms of maintenance.

They have some great deals and a neat weekly scramble shootout on Thursdays open to the public, so it's a shame that just a little more time spent on "housecleaning" would really do wonders.

I'll try it again next year, but I don't think I'd pay for another round there right now.

Played Tradion twice this week. It is a superb piece of real estate. The back nine is as good and challenging a layout as one might see in a year of searching. Fantastic experience with the island green at 12 and now that I have played 11 twice, I know how to play it, I think. 16 and 17 are target golf holes and my GRS was NOT EQUIPPED for 17. It gave me a lay-up position which was in the jungle between the tee and the first landing zone. I love this place. The 18th pin was down in the tiny left front of the green but since the course was very quiet, we had the opportunity to try the impossible put from the rear top tier of the green. I am certainly going to make it a family tradition that this course is visited when time permits and a space exists for a two three or fourball.

Golf in CT. is getting better by the day.

Played today and had a great experience. The course was perfect and the food was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great value and an equal experience. Staff is first class from Starters to Bag Boys.

Great course for the price. The only downfall it is ALWAYS busy. They pack them in pretty tight here. All the times I've been here, there wasn't a dedicated starter. Usually the guy inside or the guy doing the carts.

The hotdogs in the bar are the best.

Putting green is small that allows chipping. The driving range is irons only.

I like the back nine the best.

Overall, good for the price. I've heard just as nice as the country club up the street.

Played in a tournament here and was very impressed. The course was perfect and ALL of the staff members were very professional. We had over 100 golfers and finished in less than 5 hours. The dinner after was one of the best I have had following an event. Congrats to the entire staff and please keep up the good work. I will be back again and again. I never knew this was a public course!

Played here again yesterday. This place is great. Course was excellent as always, aerification holes are all almost closed up. I love the bag drop, the whole staff treats you like you are a member. You can't beat the restaurant either. Overall this is the best facility in the area. Keep up the good work guys!

I played there the same day as Maddog and he couldn't be more wrong. I was helped when I arrived by a polite young man who took my bag and my wife's as well. We were loaded on a cart and teed off right at our time 12:48. We were off the course and in having dinner at 5:15, which I thought was pretty good because they were busy. The greens were aerated, but were not bad at all. How could you complain about any of this when you are paying $47????? The fairways are immaculate, better than any of the neighboring public courses. I would recommend this place to anyone, don't let comments from someone who had a bad round fool you, this place is great!!!

Did I go to the same course as you guys did? Nobody was at the bag drop when I showed up at ten 30 this Sunday morning. The starter told me to go ahead and load up mine and my girlfriends bags on the carts ourselves. Nobody told us that the course had been aerated when I made the tee time the weekend before. You were allowed to hit only irons on the range. It was a five hour round, which is not good for a 6k yard course. I did not see a single ranger for the entire 18 holes. Even the members that were in front of us were complaining. The fairways were tore up. The rough was very thin and dried out. Dead in many places. I work at Pound Ridge Golf Club. Maybe I am just pampered, but after playing golf for 8 years at Stamford's municipal golf courses, I don't think so. How did this course win best course in CT? This is the only reason drove over an hour to play this course, and I was extremely disappointed.

One of the best courses in the area. You feel like a member at a private club when you pull up. Course is in excellent condition with many new improvements. Everytime I go it just seems to get better.

Decent course - I play in a league here - never bored with the challenges

A course layout IS available in the Pro Shop and is VERY helpful on this very challenging course - I recommend getting the book - it's now $1.99. This course has all the hazards with a TRUE island par 3. I think the course is under-rated as a public course. VERY challenging, well maintained, well marked & courteous staff. Besides all that, the price is RIGHT! The rough is ROUGH in many areas - can find this course a bit tight at times. Overall, excellent!

Very challenging

I was very pleased with this course but because it is narrow in places one need take a few extra golf balls. Tha back nine holes seem to be all over the lot but the water hole is fun if you make it and a real challenge.
My great dissapointment was that there was no course layout on the score card that we got. I finally got a score card with a very small map of the layout but very hard to read. If you want a layout then you need buy a booklet for $5:00 in the club house.
