Simply one of the most classic designs in golf, The Course at Yale is a treat to play. Many memorable holes and a masterful use of the land to shape holes. The greens are almost unrivaled in size and contour. The only course I've played that is similar to Yale's design is National Golf Links. The one thing that has burdened the course for years has been it's conditioning. I played this course back in the early 2000s and, to be honest, the conditioning was equivalent to that of a local muni. Since then, the conditioning has steadily improved. As a result, the design elements have really been able to shine - especially the huge, severely undulating greens. The Course at Yale used to be in the country's top 100 courses, and with the recent conditioning improvement, I can see a return to the rankings.
