Great bang for you buck course with a fun back 9.

I give this a poor overall rating because the course staff cannot seem to honor tee times. Went there recently and had a set tee time. Showed up 5-10 minutes early and saw three groups waiting at the first tee. No one was at the 10th tee, so I inquired if we could start there. We only had a group of 2, but were told no because we would "mess up the pace". I was very disappointed with this. There is no sense in making a tee time if it cannot be honored. We would have waiting 30+ minutes to tee off. Unprofessional in my opinion.

Fox Hollow is a nice country golf course without anything amazing, but yet holds a high overall quality mark in every aspect. Many reviews discuss the clubhouse getting renovated or being done, which I personally could care less about, but since many people obviously do care, I will let you know that it is nice, finished, and has a homey feel with windows overlooking the front nine. The course itself isn't overly challenging, barring the mammouth reverse checkmarked designed 15th and a few holes on the front requiring approach shots over water. The scenery is cool, mostly wooded and the maintainance is just good, not great. I played after rain which other reviews advised against, but whatever drainage problems they had in the past seem to have at least improved as it wasn't much of a problem. The greens were very good, fair, rolled true and played to an average speed. The price of $27 to walk weekday peak is definately reasonable for the quality of course. They do have logo balls for the collector like myself, a huge plus. The only problem was pace of play as there were multiple foursomes and a fivesome in front of me. Probably a rare occurence as the course emptied by the time I was finished, but it sucked nonetheless. If your not familiar with the area, I'd definately recommend playing this fairly hidden course. Overall rating A-

This is a course that has so much good potential, but that potential isn't ever managed well. A very modest investment in better groundskeeping, drainage, and general "updating" would transform this course from a backwoods relic into a first rate player's course. Forget about the "clubhouse"; it's got cheap stamped all over it. You're not going to want to do more there than use the bathroom and maybe get a hot dog and a soda. The course layout could be so interesting. Front nine is a largely flat and unchallenging mix of holes with nothing spectacular to get your attention. The last 6 holes on the back are what makes it worth coming here. They're across the road and uphill from the front, and their whole character is different. The par 5 # 16 is one of the weirdest holes out there.

If this course had only nominally nicer facilities - cleaned up tee boxes, a few nice flowering shrubs here and there, and some attention to the drainage issues, it could really shine. As it stands, it's worth the $22 afternoon fee, but no more.
