The Club At Shannondell, Audubon, PA

The Club as Shannondell is a pretty nice course with a terrible course layout. Unlike the last review, I will attest that this isn't a "dogtrack." In fact many of the holes are interesting and provide a stiff challenge, especially at the tee box which requires accuracy due to some narrow tree lined fairways. The actual holes were fun to play and I'd deem the maintainance to be above average. The greens were true and played to an average speed. However, many reviewers hit the mark when complaining about the far too frequent neigboring tee boxes and balls that very often find there way from other holes onto your fairway. In fact, some tee box locations are simply dangerous. The layout is really really bad, probably due to the small space in which the designer tried to fit 18 holes into. The other problem is that they need to do a better job managing their tee times. Too many unwilling 2somes had to get paired up, not exactly enjoyable to some golfers like myself who truly don't want to play with another group. The price of $25 to walk twilight weekend is reasonable and they do have logo balls for the logo ball lover like myself, a huge plus. Despite its 2 major drawbacks, is a good course to play, if and only if, you can find a non congested period of time in which to play. Otherwise, due to the layout, I wouldn't bother.
