Dunwoodie Golf Course, Yonkers, NY

Dunwoodie is a short, Westchester County run, golf course in Yonkers. I played it on a nice, cool September Sunday afternoon.

The distance from the very back tees (the black tees) only measures about 5,700 yards. There are quite a few par 4s that are under 300 yards. So it is a fairly easy layout with no water on the course to deal with. Great for your confidence.

The front nine is par 36 and features some neat holes like a downhill short par 4 (#3) and tough uphill par 4 (#4) a downhill par 3 (#7) and a very short, but perilous uphill sloping par 4 (#9). The back nine is par 34 and features 4 par 3s. The best hole on the course in my opinion is #11, a sloping par 5 that ends dogleg downhill into the green.

The course is in sight distance of Manhattan and on a clear day, you have a great view of the Manhattan skyline from the 18th tee box.

The course was in nice shape despite the heavy play it receives. The County of Westchester does a generally nice job with the maintenance of their courses. Rangers came around often and monitor the pace of play. The three people I was paired with were fairly slow at times, but we still played a round in just over 4 hours. The cost for a Sunday round of golf was $45. Residents of Westchester county get $10 off on that rate.

In summary, a nice, short course and a worthy play if you are in the area.

Course was decent. Front nine short and narrow and challenging in spots. Agree with @dadt comment that the course staff was totally rude an in my opinion off the wall. My group finished our round in under 3 hrs. 45 mins, yet we were harassed throughout the round for playing too slow. WTF?

Have played here a few times over the years. This is the easiest of the Westchest County courses. While the yardage is very short there are some interesting short and tight par 4s among the opening holes. Better players will likely hit a hybrid or iron off the tee for the first 4 par 4s. While short, these holes still pose a decent challenge.

Course conditions are decent considering the amount of abuse it gets.

Oddly the on-course staff can, at times, be quite difficult to deal with and sometimes are just downright rude or offensive towards patrons.
