North Fork Golf Course Description

The 9-hole "North Fork" course at the Teton Lakes Golf Course facility in Rexburg, Idaho features all the hallmarks of Idaho golf. Designed by Billy Casper, the North Fork golf course opened in 1987. James McFarland manages the course as the Director of Golf/Golf Professional.

Course Reviews

Well maintained with nice greens. Generous fairways. Pro shop is will stocked. Easy to walk, and except for an unusual day, tee times not needed.

Teton Lakes front nine is unimaginative and lacks any excitement. The front nine is enjoyable for now since the condos and subdivision aren't in yet. Once it is it will take on different feel. The back nine is much more enjoyable with more decisions to be made on some shots. No tee box had a yardage/par sign. Better keep a scorecard with you! Cart paths are not marked either, big disappointment! The course is fun to play and is in good playing shape.

What a fun and difficult course! I traveled to Rexburg from Provo to visit my brother-in-law and his wife. While there, we headed to Teton Lakes to play a round on October 20. A big storm had rolled through the night before, yet the course was in great shape, with the greens surprisingly firm and fast, making for a lovely 8 on the first hole (that's what I get for not going to the practice putting green first). I hadn't played in about 4 months, and I'm just a recreational golfer, usually shooting mid-90's, but this course punished my poor shots often. The front 9 was very fun, with a few gorgeous holes, especially number 3 through a grove of trees. A few well placed canals took care of a couple of ambitious bombs off the tee box; sometimes a 5-wood would have been preffered.
The back nine felt almost like a completely different course, just as others have already mentioned. Water is everywhere, challenging nearly every shot. After a beautiful 10th hole uphill, 11th comes back down towards a lake. Be careful, as any drive over about 260 from the whites will be flirting with the edge of this lake that cuts off the fairway. As we were finishing this hole, a hail/sleet/snow storm came roaring through, and we quickly headed back to the cars. Within a few minutes, the ground was covered. We were given a 9-hole raincheck at the clubhouse, and we headed home.
An hour and a half later, the snow was melted and the course was open again, so we were back to finish our round in cold, windy conditions. The back nine did not disappoint! After a challenging 13th dogleg left, the difficulty increased on the 14th. A blind drive over water, with more water in front of the green made this 225 yard par four deceptive. I went with a 5-wood, aimed at the small tree and bushes to the left of the green. DO NOT GO STRAIGHT AT THE PIN! If you do, anything more than 200 yards will end up in the water, which you can't see from the tee box. A very difficult far right pin location nearly ruined my chances for par, despite driving to just 5 yards left of the green.
The difficulty continued on the 15th hole. A beautiful, long drive was ruined by the 4 or 5 trees jutting into the middle of the fairway on this par 5, as my ball knocked into the last tree about 25-30 feet high, killing about 50 yards of my drive. The canal in front of the green is a lot larger than expected (about 40-50 feet across), and my 3-wood 2nd shot disappeared into it as I attempted to go for the green in two. Lay up or you'll be sorry! The rest of the course is just as beautiful with massive, old trees lining the fairways, and water in play on every hole. It is finished off with a beautiful, 18th hole, with a second shot uphill, over water. What a great golf course. I'll be back!
The only negative was a lack of signs (perhaps due to the lateness of the season). There were no signs at any of the holes to help us first-timers know distances and layout without referring to the scorecard.
Definitely worth the money!

This is my Mecca. The front nine is typical of a municipal course providing a good variety of shots and some hazzards in well placed trees, unmowed mounds, and even a little water. The back nine however, is a true golfing experience. Water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. Some of them on every shot. Be careful with the driver here as it will get you into trouble really fast. However, with precise iron play and some thought before you decide where you want to hit the ball, this is the best golfing experiece to be had in the area. Be warned however, if there is something wrong with your game the back nine will find it. After playing a few rounds here, other courses may become somewhat boring.

tough but fun course

this is a sneaky course, the front nine is fun and well laid out with little difficulty and then you step onto the back nine. if you were asleep you had better wake up it becomes a whole different world. the scenary changes and the difficulty does a complete 180 degrees. this is where the course becomes more difficult and fun. if you are looking for an entire day of nothing but golf once you pay for 18 holes you can go play the municipal course in Rexburg for free. good value higly recommend

Teton Lakes

This is a golfer's course. If you can strike the ball consitently and get up and down, you will love this long-feeling, difficult course. It's generous size and layout take you on a great journey through 18 holes, and it's layout helps you lose yourself in golf for 3 hours. Fantastic variety makes every hole interesting and challenging. Making par on the long number 15 feels like an eagle.
A good blend of trees and water keeps you on your toes, but you have to be more than straight on this course, you have to be somewhat long if you want to shoot in the 70's or low 80's.
Pro Shop is beautiful and well-stocked with a great variety of quality golf equipment. Resident pro Duffy is helpful and will roll dice for almost anything.
This course is worth the trip. Best course in the region, in my opinion, and that includes nearby Teton Pines, a Palmer course in Jackson Hole that will cost you 5X's what the Lakes will for no better golf.
