Shadow Valley Golf Course, Boise, ID

This is a challenging but fun course with lots of elevation changes and spectacular views. I play here every chance I get.

Beautiful views, especially from the front nine. Honest course. It wasn't easy but each hole was pretty straight forward and in front of you. Well maintained. Friendly, helpful club house staff. I was visiting the Boise area and would recommend Shadow Valley.

At 6500 yds, you'd think Shadow Valley was somewhat of a pushover. That thought leaves as soon as you see the contouring, speed of greens, and shot shaping that must be done to navigate it. Elevation changes, uphill, downhill, sidehill lies all await you here. Local knowledge is really helpful, but the regulars and staff are very happy to lend a hand. It reminds me of old school golf where length isn't paramount, but ball control is. The facilities are nothing fancy but adequate, and the staff is exceptional. For the golfer who is looking for a challenge in a wonderful setting with great staff, you can't go wrong with Shadow Valley.

Overrated doesn't deserve this mnuch attention. It's a short course with lots of hiils. All the par 4s are short, not one is hard to reach in two. It's well kept, that's the only reason it's and ok course.
