The 18-hole "Grand Lake" course at the Grand Lake Golf Club facility in Montgomery, Texas features 7,165 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Gary Player, the Grand Lake golf course opened in 2003.
The one word I have for this course is "potential". I was very disappointed with the course. I understood going in that there was no clubhouse which did not bother me. However, I thought the course would be in better shape. There was no distinction between the rough and the fairway. I couldn't tell when the last time the fairway and "rough" were mowed. There were tall weeds everywhere. The tee boxes weren't well maintained and often did not have tee markers. The sand traps also were not in good shape. The greens were the one bright spot. They were in good shape, though they were slow. The round only cost $35. However, for a few dollars more, head down the road to Wood Forest. That course is immaculate and more challenging.
