Growing up in Elberton and now living in nearby Athens I was thrilled to see the State of GA build a public golf course on Lake Russell back in "04. The first time I played was right after Arrowhead opened and it was impressive but still a work in progress. Wow, how five years makes a world of difference. Greens were fast, beautiful scenery without comparison in Georgia and well taken care of. The back nine is still a wonder with its beautiful scenery and rewarding challenges. This is by far the best of all the public State owned courses and far better than many of the so called "elite" courses in Georgia and nearby South Carolina. I can only think of Kiawah Island and Augusta along with perhaps Mount Vintage as superior courses to Arrowhead Pointe. I will be back soon and often from here on out.

one of the nicest courses I've ever played. People were great scenery is spectacular. They have cabins there at the park you can rent for about 60 bucks a week (only for a week at a time in the summer) but I understand you can get a cab for 3 days in the fall. This course is truly one of my new favorites and I've played alot of the premium courses in the country (doral, Kapalua, copperhead, Kiawah Ocean) I'd put this course in that category. I played it from the whites and found it to be not terribly difficult but I think playing from the blues will affect that dramatically.

An awesome course, lots of fun, and heck you can bring your boat and go fishin, waterskiing, jetskiing, whatever.

I'll be back...

Bring a Camera

This is one of the most beautiful golf courses that I have ever played. The last five holes on the back nine make you want to pull over and soak in the scenery. The golf isn't bad either. The holes are generally tight with rewards for those inclined to take a risk (and consequences as well). The greens (Bermuda) are grainy but very good. The grain is consistent and adds challenge. As a state park course, the value is exceptional.

I played this course over the weekend and was very suprised to see a course in such prestine condition so far from civilization. From tee box to green, the grounds crew do a very good job of keeping the course in top shape. Not being a fan of bermuda greens, I will choose not to comment on the greens. As typical with most bermuda greens, chips are hard to check and they are pretty slow, but putt true. I will play this course again.

I went on a golf trip with some clients. The course was in great shape and had magnificant scenery. 8 holes are right on the lake. Offers good challenge too. Need i say more! Great value on start and even better on replay!

The absolute #1 course I've ever played. And this is in the middle of January! The scenery on the back nine is out of this world. It's nearly competely surrounded by Lake Russell. I'll be back to this course on a regular basis.

Beautiful course with several holes near the lake. Quite challenging and the greens and fairways are in great shape. Staff very helpful and a good value. One of the best courses I've played. We had a great time!
