Oak Grove Golf Club , Harvard, IL

Played in July, 2013. Absolutely gorgeous greens - better than Geneva National. Soft but slick as snot. Some very tough, interesting holes. Deer and wild turkey. Loved this course. Great deal during the week for seniors. If I lived close, I'd play it all the time.

My favorite public course in Northern Illinois. Course was in great condition in 2010 and can't wait to play it in 2011. Great deals during the week...check the course web site for coupons.

We had 3 groups play Oak Grove over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. This used to be the premier, unknown course in Illinois. Although the course is beautiful and challenging, the quality of the greens and fairways have declined from being a 10 down to a 5 or 6. Hopefully the new management company will understand the resource they have and also do something with it.

This course has 17 outstanding holes and then there is hole number 11. It doesn't fit into the course at all...potentially requires a layup shot on your first shot that could be under 150 yards, a layup on your second shot that could be as short as 50-100 yards and then you need to hit a third short of 170 yards to reach the green. Nothing wrong with a layup on a par 5 but this is testing the limit of fairness.

With all of the above taken into consideration, it's still a fun course to play.

Oak Grove Golf Course

I love this course. It is a terrific challenge, and lots of fun to play. One of the most enjoyable courses I've ever played. It's not easy, but it will make you play your best golf.
