I played this course just this week and must say this is one of my favorite courses to date. The price is reasonable and the course is great from tee to fairway to green. You will not think you are going to find such a great course so far out of the way. Don't forget to look around and admire God's creations while you play. I plan to make this a do again course soon.

Have been playing this course since the 90's, when fairway flags marked the layup areas and before the new clubhouse and course design. My wife and I love to play this golf course with exception to no.12. Sad, no senior rates and none resident rates apply.

Was up in the mountains over the weekend and had an opportunity to play Smoky Mountain. The golf course was in great shape. Fairways like carpet and the greens were in excellent condition. Loved all the shots hitting off the top of mountains, and the scenery of the Smoky Mountains all around you was stunning. Overall, great golfing experience and at $49 rates amongst the least expensive of the area's courses. I look forward to playing it again when I am next back in the western part of the state.

After reading previous reviews from prior years, and being a seasonal resident of western North Carolina and a frequent player at SMCC, I want to point out that a major management change occurred in late 2010, resulting in a new golf course superintendent and new general manager being hired. The results have been outstanding. I have played almost all of the golf courses in western North Carolina this year and must say that Smoky Mountain Country Club has the best fairways and greens of any of the courses I have played this summer. Their bermuda fairways are carpet-like and the bent grass greens roll true. I know of a number of golfers from the Waynesville area (30 miles from SMCC) who have recently become members at SMCC because the condition of the golf course is far greater than any of the numerous Waynesville area golf courses, and the staff is as friendly and accommodating as you will ever encounter.

Just played this course while on vacation in NC, the most disappointing golf course I have played in years. First it was a 59 dollar green fee, that would be ok if the course was maintained to that level, it is not, the fairways were weedy and patchy, the rough just off the fairways is not maintained, lots of drainage issues and tee boxes remind me of low end muni courses, one tee box was half gone due to a mud slide I guess.
The greens were very slow and inconsistent and quite small.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, go play gooney golf you will have more fun.
I do have to say that the clubhouse is nice and staff very friendly, no rangers which led to very slow play and we had one group of six in front of a twosome in front of us, obviously golf etiquette is not enforced
I will not play this course again.
