Hell's Point Golf Club, Virginia Beach, VA

Kitchen was good. Staff was friendly. Greens were in ok shape but we've had a hot summer. The course was very scenic and there were several memorable holes with good risk/reward shots. The ONLY drawback that I saw was that the course doesn't drain well and was a mudhole. I had a enjoyable time playing and would recommend it if there hasn't been rain in a few days. Price was moderate.

Very Impressed with the changes that have been made at Hell's Point over the past year. New superintendent has done more with the course this year than has been done over the prior five. Incredible difference in the greens currently than last year at this time. Great job returning the course to playable conditions. Course lost a lot of membership but I think if they saw the course now they would be looking to rejoin. New carts, quick greens, practice facilities being redone, and friendly staff. Keep up the great work.

Played Hell's Point on Mon 22 Aug 2011. What a disappointment! The greens were absolute crap all the way through the course. Many, many plugs had been taken out and filled with sand, but not all the way to the top of the holes (I think from poa annua grass). Also, the majority of the greens were hard-packed soil or sand with many bare areas. Any Superintendent worth his salt would have just shut down the course instead of allowing the course to charge people full price for a round on those greens. There were many putts that my twosome litteraly saw jump all over the place, then the ball sometimes would come to a stop in one of the not quite completely filled plugs. Just awful, and this from a course that used to be one of the top-rated tracks in the Hampton Roads area.

the course was average, not too well maintained but the staff was friendly... it wasnt bad but not my favorite course
