I HAVE READ THE COMMENTS THAT A COUPLE OF PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS GOLF COURSE AND WAS SHOCKED AT THEIR VIEW OF THE EXPERIENCE. I HAVE BEEN LEARNING TO GOLF FOR A COUPLE MONTHS AND HAVE COMPLETELY ENJOYED THE TIME I HAVE SPENT THERE. I DONT KNOW IF THEY REALIZE IT OR NOT BUT IT IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND WHILE YES IT IS AN OLD ESTABLISHMENT SOMETHING MUST HAVE BEEN GOING RIGHT FOR IT TO STILL BE GOING STRONG SINCE 1930! DONT YOU THINK? IT IS IN NEED OF A FACELIFT AND THAT TO MY UNDERSTANDING IS IN THE PLANNING STAGE BUT IF EVERYTHING THAT NEEDED A LITTLE COSMETIC HELP WAS TOSSED OUT...99% OF ALL OF US WOULD BE FIGHTING OUR WAY OUT OF THE TRASH HEAP!! BELLE ACRES IS THE ONLY 9 WHOLE GOLF COURSE AROUND. TO SOME THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO SPEND TIME RELAXING BEFORE GOING HOME AFTER A HARD DAY AT WORK, NOT HAVING TIME TO PLAY A WHOLE 18 HOLES BUT JUST ENOUGH FOR 9. THE PRICES TO PLAY ARE VERY LOW COMPARED TO EVERY WHERE ELSE IN THE AREA. I RECENTLY RETURNED FROM A TRIP AND VISITED THE WORLD FAMOUS MAHOGANY RUN COURSE ON ST JOHN VIRGIN ISLAND WHERE PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON, TIGER WOODS, OBAMA, MANY MANY FAMOUS PEOPLE GO ON REGULAR BASIS TO GOLF. THE FACILITY ITSELF WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD THE PLAYING GREENS LOOKED OUT OVER THE BEAUTIFUL CARRABEAN OCEAN ETC. PICTURE PERFECT!!! BUT I WENT IN AND ORDERED A LARGE ICEWATER FROM THE BAR AND WAS TREATED LIKE A LOWER CLASS CITIZEN!!! AND THEN AGAIN AT THE CART RENTAL. SO BASICALLY IM TRYING TO SAY YOU CANNOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER NOR CAN YOU LET THE 1ST IMPRESSION OF ANYTHING BE YOUR LAST. THINK BACK OF ALL THE BAD 1ST IMPRESSIONS YOU HAVE LEFT. I HAVE AND IF PEOPLE JUDGE ONLY ON 1ST AND SOMETIME 2ND IMPRESSIONS NONE OF US WOULD HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE!!! MY OPIONION IS THAT EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE AND KEEP IN MIND THAT ONE PERSONS BAD REVIEW OF A PERSON OR PLACE CAN RUIN IT FOR OTHERS WHO WOULD TOTALLY LOVE THE EXPERIENCE THAT BELLE ACRES HAS TO OFFER. SO TO THOSE WHO HAVE READ THE TWO BAD REVIEWS I ENCOURAGE YOU TO FORGET WHAT YOU READ, PACK UP YOUR CLUBS, DRIVE TO BELLE ACRES AND ENJOY A BEAUTIFUL DAY, MAKE SOME NEW FRIENDS, GET REACQUAITTED WITH SOME OLD ONES AND HAVE A BALL!! AFTER ALL LIFE IS TOO SHORT AND SWEET TO LET NAY SAYERS KEEP YOU FROM HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME!! RECENTLY ON WED EVENINGS THEY HAVE STARTED HAVING COUPLES TOURNEMNET WHICH IS THE PERFECT TIME TO SPEND WITH A FRIEND, SPOUSE, CHILD, SIBLING, OR WHOEVER YOU WOULD LIKE FOR SOME FRIENDLY COMPETITION AND LOTS OF FUN! JUST TAKE MY WORD AND GIVE IT A TRY OR A SECOND CHANCE WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOOSE BUT AN AFTERNOON DOING SOMETHING YOU ENJOY! THEY ARE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK UNTIL DARK. I PERSONALLY GO TO RELEIVE STRESS BY KNOCKING A FEW BALLS AT THE DRIVING RANGE!! IT WORKS!! TRY IT YOU MIGHT SAVE ALOT OF MONEY AT A DR, OFFICE.

My experience at Belle Acres has honestly been quite torn. Sometimes I go there and I am treated as a valued customer, while other times I am treated like a burden to them. As I am a teenager, I can understand them being a little less welcoming than usual. But, however, sometimes I feel like the treatment I receive is inexcusable, seeing as I always have proper golf attire; I never yell, cuss, shout, or even use my phone on the practice faculties. I was going quite regularly and never once did anything against the rules of the course. However, one time with was using the chipping green and the guy on the lawn mower yelled at me for using my wedge on the greens, saying in a loud voice IF YOURE GONNA PLAY GOLF, PLAY IT RIGHT, despite the fact I was just using it to knock the balls off to the side of the green. Truly an overreaction for something that would have gone unnoticed at any other Cookeville course, and at most deserved a polite “Could you please not do that?” Another time I was told (by the same guy) I must put my balls within 5 feet around the pitching green. This is in no way a realistic way for me to practice golf and a ridiculous rule. And it’s just this one guy who has even me a problem. I’m not sure if he just hates teenagers or what, but it’s getting pretty annoying. Another worker there, a much younger gentlemen, treated me with respect and could tell I was a beginner, and gave me some golf etiquette tips and he did not act like I was a burden to him. Very nice gentleman.
Second, the actual course at Belle Acres isn’t great; the greens are average, and the practice greens are very much subpar. Also, there isn’t really a rough. The grass is a little bit higher on the sides of the “fairway” (the fairway isn’t much to look at either), but the course isn’t expensive, and I’m not a good enough golfer for it to matter. The grass around the driving range is poor, but they don’t have you hit off mats, so that’s a plus for me.
All in all, if you want a cheap course with not great playing surface, I would direct you to Ironwood. Besides being much friendlier to people of all ages, they have 18 holes, which is a plus in my book. Beware of Belle Acres if you are a teen. I’m not saying it will be bad, but there is a much high chance of you getting yelled at by a staff member who clearly needs to take a chill pill.

I totally agree with c-dog. I played Belle Acres a few years ago and WILL NEVER GO BACK!! When I arrived to play, I was told by the rude attendant to pay after I played! I felt like I was in Mayberry RFD....I felt like I'd pay whatever the rude attendant wanted to charge me that day! The fairways stunk, the greens sucked, and the course was totally Mickey Mouse. I still had no idea what I was to pay...had I been a dishonest person, I should have just gotten into my car and hauled @$!*%....but alas, I'm honest...sometimes BRUTALLY honest! The course was so bad, I thought the fees would be about $15....that's about what it was worth. After finishing the round, I went in to the shack that was supposed to be the clubhouse and asked what I owed. The rude attendent gave me the answer: "$26" I replied, BRUTALLY HONEST, "$26!!!For a G-d Damned Cow Pasture????!!!!!" The rude attendant told me "pay up and get the F--K out of here and don't ever come back!!!". I paid, and told them "Don't look for me to ever play here again!!" and I haven't been within a mile of it ever since and will never go back....even if they adjust their rates accordingly to what they SHOULD BE....$15 for 18 WITH a cart!!!....and even with those rates I won't go back...but for anyone out there in cyberspace reading this, $15 is all this Mickey Mouse course is worth!!!.

2nd worst golf experience in my life! Don't Go Here!

I thought I was the only person who had problems a Belle Acres. There staff was terribly rude, and seemed to be annoyed that I was there. They must not have realized I spent 6 years of my life in Cookeville and am considered by most a local as my business is still located there. They were simply the most rude individuals I have ever met or seen on a golf course. I went back to give them another shot. I paid my green fee (for the second time) and was again treated like a redheaded stepchild at a family reunion. Two old friends out for a relaxing round of golf, not a chance here! In summary, this place will make your dreams of a pleasant round of golf become a NIGHTMARE! It is nothing like the Belle Acres of years past. Go to Riverwatch or Cookeville Country Club for a real round of golf.
