Course Reviews

I have played SLRD several times and every time I enjoy it more then the last. It is a challenging course with great greens even this late in the summer. It has several tees suited for every player and strategy is a must while playing here. There are alot of leaves on a few holes because there are alot of tree's, but keep it in the fairway and you wont have any problems. The driving range is below average but adequate. They have great rates starting from $16 including cart. I must note the pub and grill are worth stopping by for a few cold ones after your round. All in all I really enjoy the challenge, value, condition, and atmosphere of SLRD. If you havnt played it in awhile, you should download their app and recieve a 50% discount on your first booking. Hit em well.

I recently played SLRD for the first time and it will be my last. I'm usually not this vocal if I dislike a course, but I felt it was only fair to attempt to warn anyone from playing it. First off, I played with a friend of mine, it was just the two of us, so we were moving pretty quick, only to find that they allowed 3 sets of 5-somes in a row. So the pace of play was extremely slow. The maintenance crew didn't pick up any of the leaves, or at least blow them off of the fairways and first cut of rough. So there were thousands of small yellow leaves everywhere, making it very difficult to find the ball even if it was hit in the middle of the fairway. When I finally found my ball, there were no yardage markers or indicators to give me an estimate of how far I was from the hole. You'll occiasionally find a small blue 200 marker on the cart path, but that's it and you can't see it from the other side of the fairway so it becomes useless. On every hole, the fairways are littered with huge spots spray painted to mark ground under repair. On certain holes, 75% of the fairway is marked off for ground under repair. Overall, it was not worth the money at all. Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had playing golf. There are so many other great courses in the area, I'd play elsewhere.

Cool_Papa is right on target. Played the course again after some 5 years. It is a cow pasture. Terrible fairways, hard greens, bunkers with little sand, etc. etc.

Like many golf courses its in a flood plane. The management works very hard to keep the course in shape and playable. Good hotel, good golf course layout, great bar and grill, good practice facility. Also a new golf school has opened there. Menifee Valley Golf School. Low to mid pricing on 2,3 and 5 day schools. Great teaching staff. Their site can be viewed at www.menifeevalleygolfschool.com

You've Got To Be Kidding

Has anyone thought about bulldozing this dump? There's always mud somewhere, it's impossible to find a ball underneath the 3 inch layer of leaves & then they have the nerve to charge you to play there. I stopped in to have a soft drink with a friend after another miserable round there & it was like walking onto the set of Deliverence. I kept excepting to hear strains of "Dueling Banjos" playing from the jukebox. I love playing golf but if my choices are to play at SLRD or get a prcotological exam, I'll get the exam.
