Golf Course Reviews

This course is an absolute treat.

Great layout, great maintenance, very fast and smooth greens, beautiful clubhouse, great locker rooms, fantastic practice facilities, super challenging course, great amenities.

Luckily for me and my wife, we have a friend who is a member here and who invited us to play. The course starts off with some relatively standard holes up to and including hole #6. Then it gets real interesting. Hole #7 is a par 5 with water up and down the right side and sand bunker after sand bunker and then more water, on the left. Hole #8 is a par 3 over water. Hole #9, in my opinion the signature hole on this course, is a par 4 double hit over water.

As Billy Mays might say, but wait - there is more! Hole #10, another par 5 comes to a green surrounded by water on the right and out of bounds on the left. Hole #11 is a par 3 to green protected on the front and back and right by water. And so on and so on. A flat out great and interesting course.

There are five sets of tees, ranging from about 5,100 yards from the reds to over 7,000 yards from the blacks. The red tees take much of the water out of play. Keep it straight and you should be okay. If you spray it, bring a calculator, because you will need it to add up your score.

I understand it is pricey, but if you are staying at the Breakers hotel, save up some cash, hop in a cab and take the 11 mile ride to this course. It is worth it. A highly recommended venture.

This course is more challenging that the Breakers Oceans course. The scenery is better too. The fairways are wider & also in very good shape. The greens were quick-ish about a 9.5 or 10, but had just been airated. Quite fun, but about 20-30 minutes away from The Breakers by shuttle or cab.
