The only positive things with this course were that there was a reasonable twilight rate, and that there was 18 holes on the course. Other than that this course has no standards. T-shirts, cut-off jeans shorts, and baseball jerseys were worn by fellow patrons of this course. There might as well not have been a starter because the groups ahead of us and behind us were going off randomly at their own pace. As far as pace of play there was none. Not one person playing on this course had any sense of golf ettiquite. Divot marks on the greens, and people walking all through other fairways back and forth in the middle of teeing off were just a couple of other things that were just wrong here. Rather than celebrating being open since 1898 maybe get with the times and see where golf is here in 2011. GOdd luck with that.
Great in-city coursePatty Jewett is very nice. Mostly flat with some hills. Hitting the fairway or first cut a must. Thick, stiff rough in some places will cost you a stroke. Greens are nice, semi-fast, and easy to read.I've played PJ every time I'm in town and it's been great each time.Would be nice if they opened earlier for those who like to play before 6am. Maybe an honor system?Anyway, with 27 holes, it's a great course. I like that they rotate the 9 hole course each week. But any combo of 9's to make 18 are great!
Third oldest course west of the Mississippi!I played this course for the first time this last week and I must say that it is the best golf course in Colorado Springs. I don't know why I waited four years to play this course. Further more, inexpensive green fees and the way in which the couse in taken care of is unequal to any course I have played in COLORADO! The only bad part about this course is the tee times. They are set-up by the good ol' boy system so the best time for tee-times is mid morning.
Standard muni course. Good condition. Starters could not be any more rude & unprofessional. For those that come to Colorado Springs & their first interaction is this course, try to overlook the lack of adult supervision with regards to the starters and enjoy the course.
I played this golf course on 5/22/2011. 18 holes and a cart was $54.00. The greens had nothing but winter kill. I feel robed. I would not recommend this course to anyone. The worse course I have played in a long time.
Huge golf complex. Pretty course and nice view of the mountains. Hard to tell what critter you might see crossing the fairway in the early morning or late afternoon.
Great course with great views of Pikes Peak. Very forgiving course, unless you spend your day in the thick rough. Not long, fair greens. VERY busy course. Nice staff.
Old, beautiful, scenic, what more can one say, yes, friendly staff and historic too.
Starters and marshals are rude, unprofessional, and poor at spacing out the starts.
we loved this course
