TLDR at bottom

Was paired with a couple, but one of which was a belligerent drunk who's girlfriend wanted him cutoff from alcohol. She had me hide his flask to prevent his continuation of drinking. No big deal as it's golfing and drinking is commonplace, but he made the cart girl feel awkward when he was aggressively requesting drinks while his girlfriend was begging her to cut him off. Cart girl looked to me and I gave the cut him off look several times.
Well, ends up she phones that in to the rest of the staff and at the turn he goes to the snack shack to get 3 shots real quick, he's informed he's cut off. I confirm it was the cart girl and our advice that led to this.
After the turn and this chaos, the group ahead of us turns into a 6 some. (4some max where I come from). Well, marshall Dan Daywalt decides to tell my 3 some, with drunk guy too belligerent to play, that we need to keep up the pace. Let me confirm, it's me and 1 solidly playing woman who's teeing off the lady tees. He's on us at the green waiting for us to finish putting. Well, we putt out, drive to the tee box, only to see that the 6 some is still teeing off?! What would you have us do here, marshall? Well, we let them finish teeing off and playing their fairway shots and then tee off ourselves.
Literally, we pull up to the first ball to have marshall Dan Daywalt intimidating us and ordering us to play faster.
I ask for advice as I'm a solo player, paired with a guy so drunk they've cut him off prior to the turn, and are allowing a 6 person group to play in front of us... what would you have us do here?
His response, pace of play. I say, it's me and one lady playing behind a 6 some. You've paired me with a belligerent drunk who I've assisted in cutting off, who has also stolen beers from me and joked/threatened to take my club if I don't give him liquor.
Final straw for marshall Dan. It's time to leave for me.
I request a refund. I'm refused.
Backlog, I played here my first time a week ago and had a great time! That's why I cut out of work early, drove an hour to get here, spent $60 on food and drinks, and $70 on the round... only to get told I have to play with a belligerent drunk, behind a 6 some, and leave if that wasn't kosher.
NEVER would I play here again. AWFUL place.
Paired my solo self with a beligerent drunk who's girlfriend had me hiding his liquor, who he ended up stealing beer from me and holding my clubs hostage in exchange for more liquor... was placed behind a 6some when 4 players is the cap, to be told play faster or leave. Left, no refund given. DO NOT PLAY HERE.

Played the course last Sunday. It was in great shape, the amenities such as the chipping green, putting green, golf carts (which are mandatory) and the GPS on the golf carts were first rate. The course was in very good shape, the clubhouse is beautiful. Hard course to play in the afternoons with the wind picking up.

I played this course yesterday and have to say it was a great time. Granted, the clubhouse is not due to open for a couple of weeks, but the structure itself is complete and looking great. I have no doubt when it opens it will be amazing.

The pro warned us that the greens were still not perfect since the course is only a year old. Something about them settling for a year or two before they end up being like the greens we all seek out. To be honest, they were hard, but I didn't think they were unplayable by any means. They were fast, that is true and one of them had some corn rows in it from being aerated, but really, compared to some I have played they were in great shape.

The course it self has an interesting layout. As you look at it there is not anything that jumps out and screams "pay attention to me". No huge vertical drops or climbs, no water in the middle of the fairway, but the course feels like a championship course. Some of the dog legs are not subtle but there are a couple of holes, a par three over water and a longer par four that looks like swiss cheese due to all the sand traps. There are enough blind greens to keep you guessing and the pace of play is decent.

My only issue with the course is price. Now, I understand there are a great many courses out there that are more expensive, but Heritage Todd Creek is East of I-25 which is no man's land, especially considering the new housing slowdown, and it is spread out enough that they require you to use a cart, so each round is $60. There are ways to bring that down by $10 or so, but because I can't walk it, I won't play it as much. I play so much golf that walking saves me a great deal of money and is decent excercise. There are not any severe hills at Heritage, it is just that the green and tee-boxes are so far apart from each other.

So, bottom line - great course - close to a Ute Creek or Indian Peaks for anyone who knows those courses around here. It's worth playing over if you don't mind the cost or live out there and buy a membership, and even then, maybe twice or three times a year isn't too bad.
