Nice course for the value. Many courses in this area (along C470) have drainage problems ...No idea why but certainly a little swampy at times. I've also had issues with the ranger but they are mostly grumpy old men anyway.

I have played The Meadows Golf Course a few times this golf season and I likely wont choose to play it again. The price is average(for Denver) but they do have a reduced early bird special for 9 holes off the back 9 which is a good deal. The course appears to be in great shape at first appearance but don't be fooled. At a rate of $58 ($43 greens fees & 15 for cart) the course has some glaring issues. First they have a bunch of grass rot and fungus issues in their fairways. This leave some interesting lies on a course that already has a bunch of uneven lies. Second on the back side there is a bunch of water issues. The course is kind of swampy with what appears to be poor water drainage in areas. If you keep your ball in the short stuff you wont have too many issues but its you hit it near the native grasses expect swampy sloppy turf to deal with. A few holes like #16 has fairway damage right in front of the green where turf as been replace. This is really unfortunate if you have to layup on the long par 5.

On a side note if you play early during their early morning special don't expect the ground crew to be kind to any golfer on the course. Multiple times I've done their special and they found that the mowers don't move to the side to allow you to get off the tee, and the will run mowers full bore right next to the green you are putting on. I don't say this complaining too much due to the reduced fee and knowing they need do their respective jobs, I only mention it because its one of the few places I have played where the grounds crew doesn't move or idle their mowers when they are in the way of the paying customers.

Finally on a second side we had a tee time to tee off at 6am. We were called to the box to find a the 2some ahead of us still on the box and a group ahead of them just getting far enough away so they could hit. Both groups were 2somes in carts and we came to see that both groups were good enough not to hold us up after the initial hole. The reason why I'm bringing this up is we were not able to tee off until 6:12 which means we were about 10 minutes behind.... Fast forward, our 4some (walking) teeing off 14th tee the marshal came flying up telling us we needed to pick up the pace because we were behind. We all looked shocked because we were all playing well and relatively fast. I told the marshal would would do our best to speed up and as he was driving away I looked to see the time was 7:09. So we played our first four holes and our tee shots off the 14th in under an hour. The next 4 holes we dealt with playing around the ground crew and our 9hole round finished in 2 hours 4 minutes. The group behind us (2some walking) never once had to wait for us after the first hole. Funny thing is the marshal watched us on the 16th and 17th as if we were holding up the entire course! The guys behind us were a full hole behind. Pretty interesting.
Regardless I dont think I will be choosing to play The Meadows anytime soon.

As an out of towner, I never would have thought this was a municipal course. Long (played black tees), very well maintained, makes it an unbelievable round for the value.
