The course for the most part is worth the money. It gets a lot of play because there are not any courses close by and the local community of seniors takes advantage of its proximity. The management is more interested in how much profit they can make. Their view, you don't have to play here, I have lots of people who do want to play here I am not here to make this the best course. Mike (general manager) believes he has the best greens in the Inland Empire. But what he has is greens that are not rolled and cut occasionally so many golfers don't come back. Bunkers are not maintained. Grass is cut in the fairways and left there so it slows the ball down off the tee. This could be a very good course if management would listen to players. . The biggest problem with course and the reason more revenue is not generated is from the complete lack of leadership and the misunderstanding that the course is there to maximize profit, not optimize and provide a maintained golf course for all levels of golfers.
The GM has a background in the production of field crops/soil mgmt. but needs one in golf management/business.

I played on a late Thursday morning and got around in about 4 hours in spite of hitting traffic twice. The course is fine but not too interesting. Most holes are straight and there isn't a lot of strategy, just hit the ball straight. I had a terrible driving day but still scored okay, so it's not that punishing. The front nine is attractive with some creativity in the layout, but the back nine is perfunctory and uninspired, except for the two par-3s which are rather nice. I liked the staff, but I ended up getting stuck with some old-timers who apparently resented my intrusion onto "their" course and kept insulting me. One guy told me that my tee shot was OB when I couldn't see it from the tee box, but it turned out to be only a few feet off the fairway, that sort of thing. I'll probably play there again but it will never be one of my favorites.

Nice golf for the money. Don't expect Pebble Beach for $20. Nice view of the mountains and reasonably well maintained. It is a good golf experience for most amateurs. Not too long.
No more crowded than other public courses. I recommend you give it a try. I like it.

Very Nice Course for the Price. after 12:00pm price is $20 w/ cart and drops to $15 at 3pm. Play is steady and the course is well taken care of. Given our times of economy, the cost for any budget golfer is well in my ball park.

The course was very pleasant and outlined with homes, which gave it a very private course-like atmosphere. The course was built intelligently with well place hazard that kept you thinking. The course, however was not well maintained. Parts of the green were spotty, and the fairways need a bit more attention. Otherwise, this was a terrific course. I'm just hoping that I got them on a bad day.

Slow play is common here. Short course. Not that challanging. If it played faster, would propabably consider coming here, otherwise, better at a par 3. For this price, not worth it at all!

Great Value

This golf course is a great value. On the weekends you play for around $10 per hour. There is some that think this was a Private course, Upland was never Private, it has always been a Public Course. Upland has dry spots but this is because of two things, the amount of play and cold weather.

Greens are in great shape, whereas the fairways are just ok. This is one of the best Golf Courses for the price between Claremont, Rancho, and Ontario.

One of the Great Values still available.

I play at Upland 1-2 times a week since November. I played at Upland over a year ago and really didn't like it because it was all about the homeowners and members and was very difficult to get a tee time. We now have about 20-30 guys that come out and play each week. No one could get tee times before it was always catering to homeowners. We think that this is such a great place to play. We do see the resentment from the homeowners that have played there for many years that their is more public now. We have had some 5 hour rounds there but that is usually on a busy day and other courses would be 6 hours. The normal round at Upland is between 4 and 4 1/2. I think the course is in great shape some of the best greens in Southern Calif. The fairways and rough have some dormant grass but that is because of winter. As far as the bar goes, I eat there all the time I think the food is great and has actually got much better in the last month. I would recommend this course to everyone. For a course that was private or semi-private they treat the public with alot of respect.

Slow Play

If you have the time and like slow play, Upalnd Hills is the place for you.
I played there this past weekend, and the number two green had all of Upland and half of the inland empire waiting to go on.

I could not beleave how slow a course less than 6000 yards played. Organization and golf course management may be able to help, but there is no way this place should play five hours and fifteen minutes. I waited on every tee box, on every fairway, it was a horrible experience.
