The 18-hole "Eagle Springs" course at the Eagle Springs Golf & Country Club facility in Friant, California features 6,788 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.0 and it has a slope rating of 134 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Johnny Miller, the Eagle Springs golf course opened in 1990. Mike Best manages the course as the General Manager.

I had been warned of the difficulty of this course but felt I had to test my skills against it myself. My impression? This course is Brutal! I am a novice golfer so my perspective may only be of value to another high handicap player, but from my point of view this course is difficult beyond reason. The fairways and greens are impeccably maintained. But some of the greens are so severely sloped as to render them nearly unplayable. A hooked or sliced drive usually means digging for another ball out of the sleeve. (Bring several sleeves.) The cool stuff, like the GPS/Ipad display in the cart and the complimentary water bottles all add to the sense of a high-end course. The well-stocked pro shop is staffed by courteous, friendly and knowlegable staff and the on-course beer lady is cute and timely. But even with all the nice amenities I doubt I'll be back soon. I came home licking my wounds for the humility lesson this difficult course handed me and looking for my slippers and a good stiff drink!

Since the Tribe took it over, conditions are great, but not a very well trained staff. Starting procedure virtually non-existent -- a problem when crowded.

This is one of the best public courses in the area. It's well architected, scenic, and well-maintained.
I did experience an unfriendly staff member during an unfortunate incident with some gift certificates.
And no beer on tap in the cafe (19th hole).

I've played a dozen rounds here in the past 2 years and can easily say it is the most fun golf course I've ever played. I'm sixty-five and don't bother to keep a handicap. My best round from the tips is 69 last August. My avg round is probably 75. Again, I LOVE THIS COURSE. I have fun even if I don't play so well.
