This was my first time playing this course with a couple buddies who have been here before (course knowledge REALLY helps!). The greens were in great shape, the course overall was in great shape and beautiful. This is a links course in the middle of farm land (orchards and rice fields). There aren't a lot of trees or shade, much less a backdrop to allow you to track your ball. Again, links course. There are a lot of blind tee shots (this is where course knowledge helps) so you may lose a few of balls as I did. This course was quite challenging for my ability, but I enjoyed the challenged and found the course pretty fun. The course is pricey for what I usually play. So I would wait until there is a deal to play again.

I live in the area and play this course often. It is easily the nicest course north of Sacremento. Be warned though this is a links style course with no trees and little water that comes in to play. It is also not in the most beautiful part of northern California. This is an area of rice fields and olive trees. Most of the previous reviews are from when the course first opened. Upkeep and staff have gotten better. I always find that the maintenance staff will stop mowing and move out of the way when they see you coming. Pro shop staff is very friendly. There are many blind tee shots on this course so sometimes what seems like a good tee shot is never found. This is a course knowledge needed course. I find that it takes most people a few rounds to like the course if they are use to the more traditional parkland course. This is a fun course but don't expect to tear it up the first time unless you play from the challenge, (6200 yard) tees. Wind can also be an issue in this area. There are no trees to block the wind, typically the wind is worse in the afternoon. I have friends that have driven up from Sacramento and the Bay area several times to play this course, all have found it more enjoyable each time. This though is not a forgiving course where you can miss all the fairways and still shoot a low score.
