Overall this course was a disappontment. The pro shop staff and starter were very friendly and helpful.
However the course was in disappointing condition with a lot of weeds in the fairway and just not well looked after. The greens were fast and the views were great, and we had plenty of time to appreciate them. The round took over 5 hours thanks to the two foursomes in front of us. despite the clear rules about keeping up the "marshall" showed no interest in pushing them until the 17th hole, rather late!!
So a real disappointment for us given the other glowing reviews.

First time playing this track. I am a weekend golfer and live close. the price was unbeatable on golflink.com. with gps in the carts and and incredible view. This is the best course in san diego area that i have played and i spread it out. Each hole is a different challenge. there is a uphill par four if you dont get up high enough your rolling back down 20 yards. My shot of the day was a 3 iron onto the 17th green and a put for birdie. the greens are like said above. rock hard and rolling fast. break is crazy overall favorite course to play by far.

Nice course with sweeping views. Some of the fairways are blind making it difficult the first time playing. Also, some of the fairways slope significantly from left/right to left/right, making a center fairway hit bouncing off the fairway.

Greens were rock hard and fast, feeling almost at times like a tennis court. Combining undulation with fast greens makes for an interesting day putting. Be sure to practice on the putting greens before going out to get a good sense of the speed.

I found the greens to be on a par with most of the courses the pros play today ~ incredibly fast and hard, yet I managed to stick a few shots close to the hole. The fairways are well-groomed but the separation between fairway and rough has a few patchy, barren areas (which a lot of my shots conveniently found) which makes what would have been a decent drive into a trouble shot. The links style of play is a welcomed changed to the target golf that most SoCal golfers enjoy and makes for a new and interesting golfing experience.

Greens were fantastic and the course was very well maintained. Good twilight value.

Very underwhelming & uneventful

golf is what you'll get when play at the old Auld Course. I'm not sure that links style play is all that attractive to Southern California golfers. While most of us don't like hitting behind trees, they do add a certain element of skill that links style courses don't offer. It's almost ho-hum golf. Having said that watch my score go sky high next time I play there.
