RE: Ashley W, Nov. 15 '09 You are confused ! Coronado does not have a back nine. It is a nine hole course. Since you have played "20 or 30 times " you should know that. Also they rarely have tournaments and have not had a tournament in over a year.
Coronado does not have an online schedule for tournaments.
The staff is always friendly and helpful
Sounds like you need to get your facts straight. You must have been playing at another course, possibly Continental ?

Coronado caters to familys and beginner and intermediate golfers and you can usually get around in an hour to an hour thirty.

Coronado Golf Course is a great value ! I had a great time & the staff was very freindly, hard to find at most courses.
This is a great course to practice.
THEY CALL IT "SCOTTSDALE'S OLDEST MOST AFFORDABLE GOLF " AND THEY ARE RIGHT. They have done alot of improvements since last time I was there and are improving it every day. You should give it a try !

I've played Coronado 20 or 30 times and usually have an okay experience. The location and cheap rates, typically make up for the slow play. But today, I played at Coronado and had the worst golf experience of my life. I showed up 30 minutes before my tee time and teed off at 3:05pm. There was some type of tournament with young kids going on, so I asked if we could tee off the back nine. The starter told me yes, then no, and well, I could of if I asked 10 minutes ago. I was already checked in, why didn't someone let me know, since this was obviously going to be a problem?

After an hour I had only played 2 holes, because of the tournament in front of me. I was very frustrated and decided to call it a day, as I was only going to get in a total of 4 or 5 holes before it got dark. I went in the pro shop to explain the situation and asked for a rain check. They said that they don't give rain checks and that it was a typical pace. Really?!? Because I've played Coronado 20 or 30 times and the pace is normally slow, as many other reviewers have noted, but never anything like this. I couldn't even believe the guy working was trying to tell me that this was somehow reasonable. Then, he told me that they have lots of tournaments and I could check the schedule online before I make tee times in the future. Again, somehow this is my fault? Maybe they should have told me that there would be a tournament in front of me and it might be slow, when I called to make my tee time.

Needless to say, I won't be coming back here for a long time. It may be the best bargain in town, but If it's too much of a problem for you to give customer service at that rate, then I would rather go pay more to play somewhere that values their customers. This is one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever seen.

Coronado Golf Course

This golf course has a wonderful driving range with real grass, challenging holes, and a knowledgeable staff. The scenery, once you get away from the clubhouse, is beautiful. Don't forget to look back at the clubhouse from the 6th tee as the mountain looks like it's going to swallow it up!! I've hit balls until 9 p.m. which is when they close. Great course and great range!! You'll enjoy this course because it's REALLY cheap to play and such a GREAT deal!!!
