Always a fun course. not difficult, enjoyable. sometimes in decent condition, sometimes in awful condition. clubhouse guys are either awesome and willing to help you or talk to you and overall just nice guys, or you get the crew that seems like they just got off a 24-year shift at the DMV, but thats just my experience. fun course, decent price not as good as Rebsamen, but still fun.

I've played War Memorial several times this year already. There isn't much better than getting off work a little early, paying the very reasonable twilight fee, and getting in 18 well before dark. Good elevations, good mix of 3's and 4's, play's quick. And, yes, the adjacent traffic truly tests your mental stamina! Highly recommend!

Got to play over Christmas Break '09. Weather was beautiful the course was in great shape considering all the rain and the time of year. Challanging elevation changes and if these greens get any quicker in the summer this place would be down right scary!

You have to play this course to understand what some of the other reviewers mean when they refer to being in a strange location or trying not to shank into oncoming vehicular traffic. This is part of the charm of the course, though. These are the things that come to mind when I think of this as my preferred public course in central arkansas:
- Considering that we tailgate on the course a few times a year for football games, the grounds are incredibly good. Sometimes the greens can be a little weathered, but they still stay better than quite a few others.
- Pace of play is always good, and as a short course, you can play 18 in 3 to 3.5 hours.
- You'll always find friendly fellow golfers from all walks of life out here.
- What the course lacks in sand traps and length, it makes up for by being tricky in other ways. You don't want to go long on any approaches out here.

You can't beat this course for value and convenience. Stop by after work, catch a twilight fee, and be home in time for dinner.

Super little city course. Great value. I've played twice and really like it. There are a few tough holes.

First time playing WM today. Great value! You could leave your driver at the house. Lots of short holes. Errant shots on 5, 14, 17,and 18 could/will wind up in the street. It was interesting to play with all the sights and sounds of downtown LR. I'll be back.

My dad and I used to play this course regularly 15 years ago. I had just recently gotten back into playing golf, and this course was the first one I played on in 15 years. I played it 2 weekends in a row. Truly a fun course, especially for rusty beginners like myself. My favorite holes were 14, the uphill par 4, and 16, the downhill par 3. Nothing real spectacular about them, just simple and alot of fun. I am looking forward to playing here again. It's a shame that they turn it into a parking lot when the Razorbacks are in town though.

12-31-07-I think this is the best course for the price. Although it isn't very difficult, it is still a great value to play here. Another great thing is when they are closed on holidays, if you wanna play here, you can play for free, you just have to walk. But they do leave their pull carts out on holidays as well. I recommend this place to anyone, beginner or advanced.

I have played this golf course a few times and really do enjoy it. It may have no bunkers but there is friendly service and the course is short so you can play 18 holes in less than 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon. If you do come don't expect fantastic greens, but the fairways are usually pretty good. It is a very enjoyable golf course for the average golfer.

I'll be back!

War Memorial is a great course. I played it earlier today with my buddies and had a great time. favorite holes were 3,4,11, and 14. Well-kept, short but hard course.
(oh and across Markham at the 17 green, there is a Chinese resturant called Chi's, if you play before a meal, eat it here!)

Pretty cool course in a strange location. If you can get the streets out of your mind, it's a fun course. Just don't slice, especially on 18.

Having played all three of the metro courses in the last few weeks. I'd the say the conditions at War Memorial are better than the rest. The grounds staff have really done a great job keeping the course in good shape despite the heat. As to the comments about the greens and their condition, they are in better shape than the $15 more per round greens at Rebsaman by a mile.

Central Arkansas

This course is as nice as I think you can get in the middle of Little Rock. The staff is friendly and the course is fun. While it may not be the most expensive and luxurious place to playm it does make for a nice Sunday afternoon.
