I played this course on 1/7/11, and it was nothing like what I expected. Based on previous reviews, I expected to find a flat, boring course with several adjacent holes. Quite the contrary. Numerous elevation changes and greens that were lightning fast. A few holes paralleled each other on the back nine, but generally were separated by trees and a creek. I do not know who rated this course, but I felt it was much, MUCH more difficult than the 116 slope from the white tees. I am a 7 handicapper and I hacked out a 95 (my worst score in years). I will play it again when the weather is warmer. I recommend this track for those players who enjoy municipal golf at reasonable prices ($28 for 18 holes and a cart).
I was disappointed in this course. The holes are so close together we needed to consult the map to confirm which green to shoot to. The fairways are too close together. Never heard "fore" so much. There is a creek winding through the entire course, and too much marshland, making nearly every hole a hazard. The 18th hole is broken up with 2 unplayable hazards right in the fairway, and one right in front of the green. I didn't have fun playing this course. It will be quite a while before I return.
I played this course on 05/14/2010 while down in Phenix City Alabama for my wife's mother's family reunion and had one day to play golf. I found this course on Golf Link and tried it out. The cost for 18 holes with cart was $28.00, which was a shocker as the course was well maintained and in very good condition when I played. The staff was very friendly and got me going on an early Friday morning with no fuss at all. The course was mostly opened with enough difficulties to make the course a challenge with out making it necessary to be a PGA professional to play the course. I hate course that make the game so difficult for the average player, however this course was opened enough that when you had a bad shot you where only punished some and not just loosing another ball and stroke. I lost 3 balls on bad shots (water hazard and one I have no idea where it went) and I consider it a good game if I loose only 5 or less balls. I shot one of better rounds at 99 and had a great experience and a relaxing morning. Due to the heat that came on during the day I would recommend playing in the morning before the southern heat gets to you as I was finishing up at near mid-day I was glad to get into the AC.
