I have played this course a few times this year and plan to again this Saturday. Several years ago, this was my favorite course because of the great greens and GPS carts. The carts are no longer GPS. After two sets of bad owners, the current management team has rehired their former greens guy to get the course back into the shape it was once known for. Also, the course has been renamed back to it's old name of Country Club of Alabama. Two years of drought, broken irrigation, and EPA regulation changes allowed the greens to really go down hill. They had the irrigation fixed earlier this year, and when combined with plentiful rains, their greens have really turned around. Their plan is to have the greens pretty close to their old self by the end of this years growing season. They are currently fighting a nematode that has plagued them for two years. Apparently the old trusty spray is not legal anymore for use on a residential golf course. The manager says that they will focus on getting the fairways weeded and back to a clean course next growing season. By the end of 2010, the course should be back to it's normal self. I hope everyone will give them another chance. The pricing is very good for what you get.

If you are a short hitter, this is a good golf course for you. Several holes will challenge your mind. (Do I lay up witha 5 wood or go for the green with 3 wood. Water is on play on several holes. Par 3 on the back nine is the signature holde with a view of Lake Eufala.

just played a tournament this past sat. the course was in alright shape. to my understanding new management has taken over and are trying to the course back in shape. the pro shop was still waiting on items from the logo company, but still had shoes, clubs, balls, and gloves. very amatearu course wide open and easy to play. couple of really beautiful holes and the signature hole #13 par three is awesome. i will be next year to play the same tourney and will look forward to see what has been done.

The worst golf course ever; First of all I was not expecting the course to look like the masters. I live in Atlanta and there are some very nice courses around here and I do know what a golf course is supposed to look like. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THE WEBSITE. The website is full of crap. The pictures are very old. Please don’t believe them. It says it is Alabama best kept secret and it should stay that way. No one needs to find this place. This course had a pro shop with nothing in it. No shirts and no clubs…NOTHING…The carts were a joke. The website says they have GPS on the carts. That was a flat out lie. The carts didn’t even have windows. I had to get another cart because it didn’t even have a bag strap on it. Oh no cart girl either so bring your own Gatorade or water because you cant even buy that in the pro shop. The driving range was pretty bad. There were no tee boxes just colored things to stand in between. You could not tell were the fairways started and the first cut was. Greens were the worst ever. They were like putting on carpet and most of them had some kind of disease on them to where they were black looking. The sand pits had more grass on them then the greens and fairways. I don’t think they even know what a lawn mower is or any kind of weed killer. I really felt like I was playing in a cow pasture. Except I would not even let cows live in this pasture. The cart paths were a joke. Wait a minute what cart paths!!! The only way you knew were to drive was because you could see tire tracks in the weeds. You could not figure out were to go. Many of the times we ended up on the wrong hole and had to turn around to fine the correct hole. I will never go back and I really never want to see that place again and the really bad part is that the neighborhood had some nice homes in it. Most of them were for sale but they were nice. I feel bad for the owners because if they try to sell it will not happen. If I lived in Alabama and that was the last golf course in the state I would quit playing golf. That place just plain sucks.
